My daughter's bridal shower is soon and I thought bath salts would make nice favors - anyone have any homemade recipes they have used and like?

You can get on to you tube and type in home made bath salts and it will give you a lot of really good ideas on how to make them yourself. I found that the visuals were really helpful. Hope this helps.

God bless

Suzan, I make and sell my own bath salts and body scrubs. They are extremely easy to make! Epsom salts and essential oil is the simplest way to make bath salt. Mix the two up in gallon sized ziplocs and the longer they sit, the more fragrance they'll have. And that's a most wonderful, unique idea for bridal shower favors!

Suzanne,

Here is a recipe I use:

Milk Bath

2 cups non-fat milk powder
1/2-cup baking soda
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. fragrance/essential oil (use more or less as desired)

Process first 3 ingredients in food processor or blender until powdery. Pour mixture into resealable plastic bag or container with tight fitting lid. Add fragrance oil. Shake well to distribute oil.

Directions for use:
Pour 1/2-cup crystals under warm running water in bathtub. Enjoy!

I like to purchase my essential and/or fragrance oils from:

www.pinemeadows.net

Here is a source for Glassine bags. For favors for our Ladies Retreats at church I print up graphics and paste them to these bags and then embellish with ribbon or raffia:

Hope this helps :)

These ideas are great ladies! Weird question I know, but I had to ask. Does anyone know if Epsom Salts are safe for septic tanks?

Thanks, everyone! I found some little sachet envelopes to print online (free) with victorian ladies on them, I think this will be just perfect!

Homemade Bath Salts are one of my favorites.

I use
2 C each Epsom salt and Sea Salt

1 C. mix in dried milk (goats is awesome)

Then for the more masculine ones I mix in

4 T. Ginger powder and Cloves that I get at the health food store (bulk and not that expensive).
It is yummy like a pumkin pie.

then for the ladies Lavender is my all time fave.

Make sure to mix lots and try 'em out.
