Hello! I finished my Regency dress (Sense and Sensibility pattern) this past winter but have been waiting til the blossoms are out to take pictures. Believe it or not, the fabric is from a sheet I picked up somewhere

Beautiful! Regency dresses look so comfortable. I do living history for the civil war period and those clothes can NOT be described as comfortable. Hoops, corset, several petticoats, pantaloons and that's not even counting the long sleeved dresses! Whew!
Will you wear this dress for everyday or is for a special occasion?

Thanks ladies!
Caron, I'm actually wearing a petticoat and a corded set of stays under my dress, but it's still pretty comfy :) I used to have to wear early 1850s dresses every day at a historic site I worked at for years, I get a kick out of dressing up and after the initial feeling of uncomfortableness, I barely noticed I was wearing it (except in the summer, lol, we melted then :) Though I have yet to try 1860s hoops!
I'll probably wear this dress around the house, and maybe to summer events at an historic house I'm a member at, but I don't have enough gumption yet to brave the great, big, world in vintage this old :) Oh! And I might get to wear it at a War of 1812 reenactment I'll be working next month, so neat.

You look like you belong in that era. Way too cute. I love that dress. And the scenery is beautiful. You did a good job.

Meg, Love the dress, how nice that you could sew it yourself. We have a place near here that is a whole 1800's colonial village. The people that work there all dress up, always loved seeing the clothes. Nancy Jo
