Hi..
Just wondering if any of you like the Waltons..
I have watched LHONTP and the Waltons..... But prefer the Waltons more.
I like the simple life they had.

I liked the Waltons too, but after the Mom had to leave because she had TB, it was just not the same and kinda sad.

I watched the Waltons all the time when I was growing up. Such pretty times and I never realized it until I got married and learned to see the simplicity and old fashioned values. :)

MAGOR Waltons' fans here, including my thirteen year old daughter who would LOVE IT if I bought a few more seasons on DVD.

In 1985, while working atop the Blue Ridge Mtns. at Shenandoah NP for the Park Service, I often went to Charlottesville to go shopping. I even went to Rockfish (real place) one time and have a picture of the sign. My parents were visiting me in May of that year and we went to little Schuyler (not sure about the spelling) where "the Waltons" (the Hamners) really lived. I guess the mom, Doris, was still living at the time and someone there pointed out the house to us. This was before the museum.

Someday I hope my daughter can travel with me to Shenandoah and we can visit the Waltons museum.

I remember watching all the episodes with my mom.

She must have cried about every other show it seemed.

And LHOTP was good too. Good, honest entertainment

Now that we have high speed, I forget these types of shows can be viewed more easily

I have the first season on dvd and I watch it quite a bit. I think the earlier shows were the best.

I loved the Waltons because that is exactly how I was raised. I had an older brother whose name was John. I thought I was Rosemary. That is until she got married, her hubby went to war and she had a baby. That took place in 1939. The year I was born. That would have made her my mother's age, not mine. But we did all the same things, games we played, books, cooking and canning with Grandma and all.

I love the Waltons and Little House, too. I find the Walton's theme song soothing. I grew up watching them. In fact Melissa Gilbert and I grew up together, so to speak; we're the same age.

I like both series as well, but I do agree, I like the Walton's better.

It seems my grandmother's life mirrored more of the Walton's life then Ingall's with exception to the fact, grandma didn't have that big of a house, and lived in a teepee, then a one room cabin (more like the Ingall's). But, the day to day life in my opinion from the show series was closer to the Walton's. However, grandma would of also been closer to the Walton mom's age, then Laura's age. But, grandma was in the ozark mountains, and the mountain she was born and raised on was called Dixon Hill (after her own last name). So things like that remind me more of the Walton's. So it's very reminiscent for me, to the point it makes me feel just a little closer to my grandma when I watch it.

I am waiting to buy the dvds though of the walton's till they sell it all together. Like they are doing with the LHOTP. (it comes in a wagon! lol).

Oh, perfect timing! I just bought the first season yesterday and I cannot wait to watch it. They were the one tv family that I always wished that I could be a part of. I cannot wait until I have collected all of them.

I loved the Waltons, My Mom would pop popcorn and we would all gather in the living room(only one TV per house back then) and watch the Waltons. We also watched LHOTP but that came on before supper so no popcorn.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

I loved both shows and still do. I just bought a season of the Walton's too, not sure which one. I liked it when they all were alive and well best too. I just loved Grandpa.

I watched both shows and loved them. I still watch them on satellite. Yeah, the theme music to the Waltons is so pretty that after I hear it I end up humming it all day as I work around the house.

I'm a Walton's fan also. Have you seen the movie, The Homecoming with Patricia Neal? It introduced the characters. But before that, was Spencer's Mountain with Henry Fonda and Maureen O'Hara - they were the original "real" Waltons, in Jackson Hole, WY. Both really great movies and worth having - we've watched Spencer's Mountain numerous times, and I would love to get a copy of The Homecoming - it's Christmas time...

I love the Waltons!!! Little House I really enjoy as well. I like the way of living in both because they actually had it right. It was simplier and wholesome. I have a couple seasons myself and would like to get more. They used to be on Hallmark Channel but aren't any more.

If you get to Schuyler VA, near Charlottesville is the real Walton's Mountain. Earl Hamners hometown. The old elementary school there has been turned into a Walton's Museum with most of the sets from the TV show and lots of memorabilia. It is worth the drive as it is in a beautiful mountaintop setting as well.
I am soooooo glad to hear there are other Walton's fans. My girls think I am the only one who still wishes John Boy et al were still on the air. Another thing that we farmgirls love

You all are not alone. I love the Walton's and Little House. I, too, used to watch them religiously. My DD loves to watch Little House as she relates to Laura a lot. She thinks the Walton's are alright, but prefers Little House. I love BOTH!!

I sure wish we had more(ha,ha, ANY WOULD BE NICE) wholesome shows like this on television instead of all the malarchy they have on t.v. these days. I rarely ever watch television anymore unless I can find something on Hallmark, History Channel, Discovery Channel, AMC, or TCM for old time movies.

I sure miss the innocence I grew up with!! I often feel like an alien in a strange new world when I'm out in the mass public and see the way kids are today. It makes me sad.
