My favorite job ever was working as a wrangler in Teton National park, north of Jackson WY. Woke up each mornin to the most beautiful view, the bugle of elk, and anticipation for another day on the back of a horse. How about you'all?

WOW Chelsea, I can so see you doing that, Our little "outpost girl"/Cowgirl". I gave horse back tours at Sun Lakes State Park and I love it. I also drove wheat truck. But I have to admit, I am doing what I love, right now in this part of my life!

I used to excercise thoroughbreds and hot walk horses in the summers when I was home from boarding school--best job I've ever had. I loved the backside of a racetrack--the folks, the commaradarie, the horses. But NOT the horseflies :(

I had a summer internship at a living history museum, building a replica of an Indian village that used to exist on the site. I loved working outdoors all day, especially when we would go out into the woods to gather materials: saplings, bark, roots. I think it permanently spoiled me for the "real" world of air conditioning and cubicles. |

Wow Chelsea, now that sounds perfect to me :)
My favorite job was working as a Floral designer. I just love seeing God's creation, so beautiful and being creative in design. I think I would rather have Chelsea's job though

This is a great thread. I have had so many different jobs; from waiting tables, assisting midwives, assisting my mom in her illness, to assisting rock stars to becoming a flower farmer. They were all great and some bad (work is a four letter word). However I have been thinking a lot this spring about what I want to be now. Not that I don't like being a farmer (It really is my husbands favorite role, again I am his assistant, although he would tell you different). lol But I just feel that it is my medicene to grow and garden, not my gift or true purpose. I get this anxious feeling and deep down know I could be doing more. . .
So I know I love assisting. I like to be behind the scene, sorta a wizard of oz. I love writing, entertaining and sharing diverse truths and most importantly empowering women. What I can do with all of this I have yet to find.
I am open to suggestions. I have just prayed that the good lord guides me and when the calling comes, I will hear it. Until then I will be barefoot in the mud with the sunshine warming my face working at being content and gratiful with what I have already been so blessed with. I keep my faith that I can't make a wrong decision, all paths lead to our Divine destination.
Best, Heide

My favorite past jobs:
For pay - working at Waldenbooks
For sheer joy and a feeling of usefulness - outreach with the Rx for Indiana program and Patient Ambassador for the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (I got to meet Montel!!!) I got to be in the paper, on radio, TV and do live speaking engagements.

I've been a waitress, a bartender, a librarian, a retail manager at a food co-op, a secretary, but my most favorite job ever was working at "Moonflower Birthing Supply". I started out as a shipper, shipping home birthing supplies all over the world. It was close to home, so I could run home at lunch to put wood in the stove and I could bring my kids to work if I needed to. My boss was the coolest woman ever and soon she promoted me to working as her right hand "woman", so she could go to trade shows and midwifery conferences.
My dream job is to run a school that teaches homesteading and domestic art skills. Kinda like the quilters retreat in the Jennifer Chiaverini books, but only teaching homesteading skills instead.

Favorite past job: working as an assistant manager (later manager) in a shoestore for over 13 years.
My dream job would be to be the owner of a "smallish" shop with shabby chic/vintage home decorating items, combined with a craft and book store, lol.It is just a dream, but who knows where dreams may lead to....... Just have to win a lottery that's all, lol

I always wanted a quaint little bookstore on a quiet street and a cat in the window. Nice comfy chairs and lots of different fair-trade organic coffees and teas with little danish and sweets. I almost bit the bullet once and got a beautiful store in St. Elmo, Tn.
I would also love a Bed and Breakfast. Almost did that once, also in St. Elmo. Someone beat us to it as we were looking into all the details. It was snatched out from under us. I had already canvassed the neighborhood to see if they would mind it there. All said yes. Oh well. Maybe some day.
But right now I am doing what I love. My little goat dairy-market garden business.
