Has anyone seen this? It's a made for HBO feature about the original documentary of Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, "Little Edie". They were cousins to Jaqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Onassis). At one time, "little Edie" was a celebrated beauty, though eccentric but later became a recluse along with her even more eccentric reclusive mother in a house in the Hamptons called Grey Gardens. Their relationship was what they term "co-dependent" of the worst kind.

I watched it last night and it made me cry--what a spirited and then sad story--and incredibly interesting. Makes you realize that we ALL have those relatives

I want to see the original documentary first. I'd never heard of it until I saw reviews for this new movie. Without having seen it, I have a feeling I've got some of those relatives too...

I give myself away, huh Frannie--me and my bourgois film choices :)!!! LOL..I saw the documentary at a film festival in NYC years ago and was sooo excited when I saw that they were remaking it. Without spoiling it, I will say that I think both Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange should be commended on outstanding performances...Drew FINALLY does the Barrymore name proud!

I watched the original documentary on netflix a few years ago and had an erie feeling of voyarism, that being said I DVR'ed the HBO version and haven't had a chance to watch it. I heard the acting is incredible.
