For everyone who enjoys Jennifer Chiaverini's books, here is another author to try.
Persian Pickle Club is about a group of quilters during the depression in the dust bowl
April's Tulips takes place during the Civil War
And her latest is Prayers for Sale and is about an old woman and a young bride who become friends through quilting in a mining town in Colorado during the depression. Each of these books is a stand alone novel but some of her characters have a way of popping up in other books.

I have all of her older books...she even has one out called The Quilt that Walked to Golden-Women and Quilts in the Mountain West, from the overland trail to contemporary Colorado. It's an oversize book with lots of pictures well worth the expense....I can say that cause my mother-in-law gave it to me for Christmas! Check it out!

Melody,
It sounds like she used some of the resources in the book about Golden for this latest novel.

She also wrote Tallgrass. It's probably my favorite after The Persian Pickle Club.

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.

I loved Tallgrass too. I also just finished her book "Buster Midnight's Cafe". It was a really good one too. They have all been so good!

I am reading "Prayers for Sale" right now and just love it. Have read many of her books. Sandra Dallas is great.
