Okay, I'm thinking ahead to Christmas and wondering what to make for my dad and my FIL. I have already knitted them both hats and felted slippers. I would love to knit them sweaters but that is definitely not realistic this year - any ideas/past gifts out there? I really want to stick to the handmade gifts this year and food is out for a variety of reasons.
Thanks for any ideas
Amy Grace

I made my fil a quilt, knit my bols washcloths and my husband swears by my bathsalts. Guys are the hardest sometimes to make stuff for.

I made Doug a fleece Tie blanket that is about twin sized- it's a great snuggling blanket. Also you can do soaps with manly fragrances (citrus based ones are good with a touch of sandalwood). I know it's not homemade but I found a great leather-bound journal on Etsy for my dad for this past Christmas. It was beautiful- wonderfully made and very classy. He uses it everyday at work!

I'm thinking about making a flannel quilt for my son. Maybe with all plaids and just in a size to keep on the couch to snuggle under

Don't forget a good duffle bag is great too! Something they can stuff all kinds of things into. . . recycle their warn jeans into a useful duffle bag. .. they will love it!

For the Fly Fisherman:

Take a vintage fly swatter and hang fishing flies on it, Wrap in a cellophane bag and tie it shut at the handle with raffia, jute or masculine fabric bow :) or duct tape for that matter :)

Thanks for all the ideas!! My FIL is a fly fisherman so I will have to try that flyswatter idea out - my husband ties flies so maybe we can coordinate our efforts.
If anybody else has ideas, by all means post 'em, the more the merrier

i am a fan of making fleece sweatshirts for the men in my family. they are quick, easy and historicaly speaking...they love them and ask for replacements when they start showing wear.

Great ideas! Here's another one if you have hunters in your family, make them game bags to put their deer in. One year I made my hubbs a reversable vest, one side was denim and looked like a regular vest, but the other side was hunter's orange and I sewed elastic on both sides to put shotgun shells in.
