My Aunt Glenda , we were just down to visit her over the weekend, gave me a lot of material. She has always done a lot of quilting. SOOOOOO NOW I have material. Soooo I better make something even if it does look like something straight out of pre-school.Trust me the nice picture I took of the material looks a lot nicer then a quilt I would make. But I will give it a try.

Just make something simple 5 inch squares and Tie it they are all very pretty prints. It will work out fine.

WOW! What a great gift! You can also cut long strips and sew them together too for a quilt. All of the fabrics look great!

Beautiful material. Why not try a simple square or strip quilt. Are you going to piece the quilt by hand or sew it on a sewing machine? I have done both for years and I have to admit that I love doing the whole quilt by hand for some reason. Right now, I am working on a simple nine block and a grandmother's fan. Thanks for sharing and please post a pic of the quilt when it is done.

Now that may look complicated, but it isn't. It is called "The disappearing 9 patch" and it is easy-peasy. I don't remember the exact instructions, but here is a tutorial:

and it really is as simple as sewing the big blocks together, then cutting them, and then rearranging them and sewing them back to gether...and it makes a rather impressive looking quilt (if I do say so myself) for a person who isn't a quilter. I just tied mine, as I really am not a quilter (nor do I play one on TV *g*) and I think it turned out nicely. I made it for my SIL's 50th birthday last year. A friend of mine sent me the fabric scraps from Hawaii. I bought a piece of fabric for the backing, but a lot of quilters I know use sheets from the thrift for the backing, and girlfriend, I know you know about the thrift!!!!
Of course, it looks like you have more than enough material to make _several_ quilts, and Diana's idea of 5" squares is good too, something that I could handle.
So get cutting and sewing and let us see the results!

OK girls I started something today if it comes out I will take a picture. Thanks for the push and the info and the ideas. Had the sewing machine humming for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Thanks for the compliments, FarmGirls! It means a lot, cause truly, I am not a quilter, but I can sew straight lines pretty good. I did make some of Cabin Creek Frannie's cloth dollies, and I always struggle on the curves and turns, but they came out okay too...
