Hi, I'm Saundra Slagle from slower, lower Delaware. Your neighbor lady Frannie told me this was a fun group and suggested I join. I've known Frannie for years and was a member of the doll club that she started when living in Maryland. And, I can tell you that anything she has written about her adventures are absolutely true. She is a great gal and I miss her presence.
Well, guess you already know about her and want to know about me. I'm 64 years old, married (or at least I am, lol), have a grown son, a wonderful DIL who I affectionally call Princess, and a 2 year old grandson who is the sweetest and smartest child alive (just like a grammie, right?).
While I still make dolls my new passion is traditional rug hooking with strips of woven wool. Actually it isn't a new passion as I've been hooking about 8 years or so. Is there anyone else here who hooks? Frannie, you know how to hook, but have you been hooking any since living in TN?

Hi Saundra!! Welcome to the group!! You know what? I have been doing rug hooking for..gosh..about 15 years now. I used to make rugs to sell and don't do that much any more, but do at least a project each year. Our Christmas stockings are all hooked, which was fun. I love it. I always have a small project going and can't resist looking at old wool skirts if I ever go to a thrift store...fun to find a hard to find color! I do love it! I would love to see pics of some of your rugs if you could post some..we all would! There are a couple other rug hookers here too. I am glad Frannie sent you our way..you are going to feel comfortable here..you sound like one of us already!

I would love to learn how to hook rugs! Where's a good place to start and where do you get the wool you use? Thanks and welcome aboard Saundra! Luzy

Rebekah ~ Have you met Frannie in person? You are in for a real treat if you haven't. She is whitty, sweet, intellegent, very attractive, honest, and generous to a fault. Oh, and the most wonderful story teller!
Thanks for the welcome.

Jenny, Luzy, Theresa, Kristi and Daunn, thank you all for the warm welcome. And as for rughooking, I'll start a new message and see if I can answer some of your questions.

Welcome Saundra! Frannie, I think MaryJane should hire you to do promotions! hehe! Saundra, I've never done rug hooking, but it sounds great! I'll have to check out your other post. I'm sure you'll love it here and I can't wait to learn more from you!
Much love, Laura |

Welcome Saundra!!
Sounds like we've got a lot to learn from you! So glad you took Frannie's advice...and you're right...she is a hoot. Seems to me that you might be one, too. So, just start sharing all that wisdom and wit with us!
Now you've introduced me to a new hobby! I look forward to learning. I'm sure my hubby will be thrilled that I've added yet another set of projects to my to-do-list.
Blessings Catherine

Hello Saundra and welcome. I haven't been here long but it's cozy here. I LOVE slower Delaware. Went to U of D back when things were cheap and earlier when I was a little thing we lived on base near Wilmington. My sister-in-law is just over the boarder in Chadd's Ford. She went to school with Jamie Wyeth but doesn't get into that being a wild plant expert. I got to drive down near Lewes on the way to Assateague and Williamsburg last summer on the way home to Texas and lower Delaware and Tidewater Virginia were the kids' favorites though nothing really touches North Carolina's Biltmore.
Verbina, where in NJ are you from? We usually visit my folks near Philly in the summer and head down to Cape May for a week. Probably drive right past you.... |
