calamine lotion

benadryl actually makes my hives worse. I have to get claratin the tablets. its an antihistamine which is causing your hives in the first place.
i use calamine lotion after I soak in a bathtub of epson salts. they wont go away completely but it helps wonderfully with the itchies. :)
hope that helps and you find some relief!
hugs!!! :)

I'm not sure. I haven't started using anything new, I don't use any chemicals in my garden or on my yard. They were spraying in the field around us last week. I suppose it could have be nerves but I have been stressed before and never had anything like it.

Could be something you ate, I get hives when I eat seafood. I could always eat it, then one day I couldn't.

Sit in a tub with a nylon filled with oatmeal and squish it all in the water. I have used it on Charlie many time and it works. Hope you feel better!!! : )

Thank you for the suggestions, I'm willing to try anything, it doesn't help that I'm a scratcher if it itches I will scratch.

OOh that is a great idea, Heather! I do that with the children. I forgot all about it.

Karen--sometimes when you are really stressed out and there are other things in play like something you ate that wouldnt normally bother you, they get together and create the itchy fun you are having now.
hope it gets better soon!!

I get hives and welts from deer fly bites. Alavert works good for me. I also take Oatmeal baths.

Okay hers my 2 cent's worth
My son had chicken pox so bad every where when he was little
the only thing that helped was
baking soda paste
You mix the baking soda in a little water ; enough to make a paste and dab a little every where you have a hive or what have you
It helped the pain and the itching; or at lest it did my son.
Hope you find something that works. hugs sheila

I had bad cases of hives several times as a kid (no idea why) and calamine lotion was what worked then. I've also used the baking soda paste, but only on poison ivy. It ought to work on hives too, but of course everyone's reaction is different. I'm sure one of these will help...good luck!

I'm allergic to ficus trees, especially the sap that forms if you prune them. I use calamine lotion or a mud pack with any mud that has bentonite clay in it. Bentonite is a wonderful natural detoxer. It really eases itching. My Doctor told me don't take Benadryl as it just masks the problem.
How is your immune system?

Thank you all for your suggestions it seems to be getting better and I'm not sure what remedy works the best because I tried them all, the calamine lotion seemed to work the best and I love the look!

I have a very good immune system but the last couple of weeks we have been eating out more just because we haven't been home and before that I hadn't been eating any processed foods, maybe there is a connection?? Guess it tells me I need to get back to the good stuff!!

Thanks again, hugs to all!

Yes, be creative with the calamine... How about a pink version of Mel Gibson in BRAVEHEART. Body art!
