I love to find old pieces of good silverware. And I usually have pretty good luck at the thrift . I posted a picture of a few of my pieces. I use them all the time. So much nicer feel to them, then the newer silver. And as with anything old, its nice to wonder where its been in its other life.

Very nice, Nancy Jo! I love the little white pitcher you have them in too! :) I have one silver spoon and knife that goes with a tea service set my Grandmother made me. The silver is so pretty when we have tea, but boy is it hard to keep shiny while it is waiting to be used..hehe.

Very pretty!! :)

Nancy -

Nice pieces. I too use old silverware with my new stuff. My Mom gave me several serving spoons and forks. I also have a demi-tasse spoon set from my mother-in-law that we use with cappacino. I collect other old silver items as well - I have a set of salt and pepper shakers that are shaped like a type of squash, an old bread basket, a butter dish that has a cool little section to put ice in to keep it cool, trays, etc. I love the old stuff - much more intricacy in the designs and nice weight to them.

Looking forward to Garage sales, they will be starting up now, something a little different then the thrift for awhile. Maybe I will find some nice old silverware pieces this year. I like the serving pieces best, especially big and different shaped spoons.

AS I told you before, the silver spoon you sent me lives in the sugar bowl on our kitchen table and gets used every day. Thank you for giving it to me and I love old silver too. It has a special feel that cannot be described. Kind of like real linen fabric, real pearls, and gold jewelry.....there is something that just says it is lovely.
