What local dance show in your region sponsored a dance show for teenagers in the 50's and 60's?

Did you have favorite dancers or have the chance to go on TV yourself?

Our version was Hi - Fi Hop based on American Bandstand.

My sister would gather her friends to put on a stack of 45's (records) to practice dancing before watching the show.

They would sing songs by Lesley Gore and Brenda Lee --- and teach us the stroll and other dances.

Our's was The Scene hosted by Ronnie Kaye, who is stil a DJ here in OKC. I never got to go because I worked weekends. Kids would get together and dance and rate new music. They usually went on by school.

My best friend, her sister, and I would get together and listen to records and dance and since. Their mom was so cool about it whereas my mom and dad wouldn't let us do that in their house.
