I have been using Seventh Generation & Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose Spray but it is quite pricey. Usually I clean my counters & table top with a bit of dishsoap on a wet wash rag but I like to sometimes use the spray for quick clean ups or for my stove, sink, etc. I know some of you must have a great cheaper, eco-friendly homemade version! I've thought of vinegar in a spray bottle but full strength or watered down?

And, while I am on the subject.... any good dishsoap recipes?

Thanks a lot!!!

Kristi

Kristi- Try a 1 to 4 ratio of vinegar to water (one part vinegar to one part water) and if you are going to be using it on windows, put about a quarter teaspoon of dish soap in as well to help cut residue on windows. It really works!

Yea! Thanks for the advice! I figured vinegar would work I just wasn't sure how much! Are you able to keep it in a spray bottle with the water without it getting funky? Thanks again!

Yup! Vinegar is a natural disinfectant too, by the way! And it deodorizes! As the vinegar smell fades it helps take the funky smells with it leaving a fresh almost sweet smell behind. It's kindof like nature's Febreeze.

Alee~ Have you ever tried putting essential oil in it? Just wondering if it would work to help with that vinegar-y smell when it is first sprayed. You don't happen to have any homemade dishsoap recipes do you?!

By the way.... I made my own laundry soap today! I was suprised how super easy it was (even using a hand grater on the soap!) I LOVE it!!!

If you use distilled water your homemade cleaners won't get funky.

Yes! You can put essential oil in it- though my windows did streak a bit when I used it on glass so I would be cautious with that. Also hold the essential oil close to your mix before adding. My sister did grapefruit in with her vinegar mix and she said it was the worst combination!

I use a vinegar/water spray with tea-tree and lavendar essential oil. The tea-tree is a natural antiseptic, plus it has a really clean smell but only use a little!! Then the lavendar is just nice

Ooooo.... distilled water is a great idea! Our "town" (I say town VERY loosely!) water is so-so at best. I filter it with PUR tap filter but I still won't drink it!

Thanks for the advice of checking out the scent before hand.... I would hate for it to be stinkier than the vinegar! I will probably just try out something basic like lavender!
