I am so sad! We just lost our 5 yr old Salmon Faverolle rooster named Beau! We had so much rain that he got waterlogged when he fell into our duck pond and drowned. That's one thing that I just can't get used to when you have animals, is their unexpected deaths- sometimes for stupid reasons! Buried him in our lilac garden under a beautiful weigela bush. He was such a gentleman too - not a mad boinker like the rest of them! Very sweet and gentle! He looked after all my hens and gave us some beautiful offspring as well. Now his son will take over as head honcho. I guess that is the circle of life!

It is (the circle of life) but it's always so sad when you lose a beloved animal. Hoping his son is a chip off the ole block! |

Mary Jane, that's so sad. I have had that happen 3 times now to hens. I hate that. He sounds like my good rooster.

so sorry about your Beau. I once had a parakeet for five years who died unexpectedly. It's something you never get used to. People may call them "birdbrains" but those bundles of feathers can be quite lovable. |

How sad, when your animals die it leaves a hole in your heart. Smile when you think of him. rosemary

I am so sorry for your loss - it is never easy to have a sweet one leave you but I am sure that he enjoyed everyday living with you and that you can take comfort that you loved him too. I remember having a sweet duck slip on the ramp up to their nest and brake his back. I had to put him out of his horrible pain and I cried for days. It is the worst part of owning animals but I know you are like me - the good days far out weight the bad.
Hugs to you and try to remember all those great days with him.

Ah, Mary Jane, my heart goes out to you. I had to learn that lesson early on our farm, and, although I've learned to accept it as part of farm life, it still breaks my heart to lose one of my animals. Consider yourself hugged!
