I wrote about my grandma, who was an original farmgirl in the 1910's and throughout her life, on my bloghttp://brightmeadowfarms.blogspot.com/2008/02/farmgirl-esther-klahn-ritter.html about a year ago.
She introduced me to gardening and composting, canning, and embroidery, and other farmgirl skills. She was the ORIGINAL recycler, I think. She hosted many of her grandchildren's birthday parties and family picnics.
This morning she passed away in the hospital. My aunt and I were with her as she passed away. I will miss her, but she had a wonderful, full life and at age 98 she was still full of life and sweetness, and remembered all those old times.
Thanks for letting me share her life with you.

Brenda, How wonderful that you had Grandma for so long. It sounds like she was the best kind of Grandma a family could have. They really do add so much to our lives.

Grandma's are such a special part of our lives. I adored mine and have so many wondeful memories of her. I know that your memories will help you so much in dealing with her being gone. I am so glad you had your Grandma for so many years. I know when you love someone, no matter how long you had them in your life it never seems like enough time. I am sorry for your loss.

(((Brenda))))
SO sorry to hear about your grandma!! I too adored our Omi (our special name for our grandmommy) She was the kindest, sweetest and wonderfullest grandmommy a girl could have and I too treasure all the memories I have of her and our granddaddy.
But indeed, what a wonderful age, 98 is almost a century of experience she passed on to you and yours. AND she is watching over you right now :)
Hugs.

My thoughts are with you. It has been almost 4 years since I lost my G-ma and I still cry about losing her at least once a week. But there are times when just thinking of something she would say or do makes me smile and warms my heart, and I know I am truly blessed to have had such a special person in my life. You were blessed too. Treasure those memories and be sure to pass them down to your children and grandchildren so they know all about her too.
Many, many hugs and prayers! Kristi |

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What a wonderful legacy she has left in you, though! I am very close to my 91-year old grandmother and know it will not be long before we are parted. I hope you find comfort in your shared memories and the gifts she has passed along to you. Take care~

Brenda I am sorry to hear of your loss.. Grandma's leave big imprints in our lives. Both of my grams have passed on and I have so many memories to hold of them. They were both very hard working farmgirls too, who I am sure have received their farm girl Merit badges long before I started earning mine.. Their spirits remains with me...

How lucky we are to have special Grandmothers in our lives, and yours at 98 sounds so wonderful. Your heart must have a hole in it, but I know she is watching over you and will visit in dreams and memories. I had the best Grandma, too. And we talk all the time. Smile everytime you think of her!
