Hi all,
This site is just the thing for women, I am so glad I found it.I bought the Mary Jane farm girl book from my book club and can't stop looking at it. So then of course I had to go to the website and check that out, then I had to order two of her magizines. This is a very good thing.
I was brought up on a farm in the Genesee Valley of western NY.Very happy childhood. I no longer live on a farm, but think of it everyday.
Keep busy with grown children, five small grandchildren, that all live nearby. almost every sat. night they are all here for dinner, and they pop in and out during the week.
Do lots of needlework, garage sale in the good weather, love that.Read at lot, love that too. Also love my husband, children and grandchrildren, and I'am pretty sure I love this site.

I grew up in Ithaca. Moved to MN in 1986 married and have 4 amazing kids. Is West Seneca on Seneca Lake? Ithaca is on Cayuga Lake. I am a self proclaimed garage sale guru. I love spring when I see my first garage sale. The best thing I got last year was a little table (about the size and shape of a small sofa table) that was completely chipped and cruddy looking. My father-in-law stripped it down and painted it and it is the most beautiful sofa table I've ever seen. Cost-------- .50 cents!

West Seneca is outside of Buffalo, near towns like Orchard Park and East Aurora. The farm where I was raised is about 50 miles from here in Houghton NY.
Sounds like you had a great garage sale find. My best one this past summer was a yo yo quilt. Double bed size, looks to be made in the 1930s. was very dirty, I washed it two times, letting it soak both times, other then a little repair work it is in really good shape. cost me five dollars. pretty good huh? My daughter and I go almost every weekend in the good weather. Already starting my list of what to look for this year.

Hi, I'm brand new today and am so excited to finally meet some ladies that have some of the same interests as I do and I know I will learn alot from everyone. My husband, 4 boy's and myself have 10 acres in Coburg. The previous owners planted around 200 blueberry bushes and I have been planting fruit and nut trees, ornamentals and trees and herbs I can use in my wreathes and flower arraingments every spare moment. I have been feeling like a complete loner until I found Maryjane and this website and I look forward to all it has to offer. HollyDee from Coburg

Hi DIANE
Yes all the big and little ones in and out, I'am told by a lot of people how luckey we are, as so many families these days live soooo far apart. We are lucky right Diane?
Just got on this site yesterday and already ordering an apron, red check even, from aunt Jenny, Who by the looks of her posted picture, I should be the aunt. But she can be the aunt since she was here first and is so cute.
Everyday, so much to do, how can a person get bored? Have a whole pile of new books to read, lots of needlework in my basket. Picking my daughter up for some grocery shoping. Making up a sewing basket for my sons wife, she just got a sewing machine given to her, but doesn't own a spool of thread. I know it seems a little odd to me too.
Here I GO

Hey Nancy- I know where East Aurora is, my aunt lives there, just down the road from the fisher Price plant. I used to go there every Labor Day weekend for the buffalo roast. I also spend summers at Chautauqua, not so much now but all the time as a child. Do you have much snow? When I was in Cleveland last weekend they had no snow, warm temps and all the lakes were open. Came home to 8 above and a little snow.
The quilt sound fabulous. good for you. Funniest find I ever bought at a sale was a fake mount of a bear behind. I gave it to my hubby for his birthday and said now he was getting a piece of tail!!LOL Cost- $5.00. We still laugh about it. I see you like to sew, have you thought about signing up for Frannies doll class? Check it out under stitching room.
Blessings- Beth

No snow at the moment, should get some tonight and tomorrow, windy, like to hear the wind blow when I'am in bed, not so good for hauling groceries in the house. This really has been a very strange winter.feel bad for all the ski country around here. Not making much money this year.
East Aurora is a pretty little town, we go over often in the summer for a lot of their events. IT"S about 5 miles from me.
Pretty funny gift you got you husband, did you put it up someplace? Garage sale season will be back in a few months, who knows what might be out there!!

NANCY< I agree, so much to do, how do people (my own daughters included) get bored?
Sounds as if you are still at home too? Do you get the "what DO you do all day" questions and comments? It's not as if there is ever any LESS to do at home, just not so many people in your way chatting your ear off when you have to do it!
My daughter and grandkids keep my running in any spare time I do have, how about you?
"Aunt" Jenny is beautiful, isn't she? I keep telling her that!

Yes, my oldest daughter asks me almost everyday. what are you doing Mom? just being? and I tell her everyday, yea being busy. She doesn't quite understand what I could possibly be doing all day. Yes they do keep me going. had to take Heather{oldest daughter} for groceries this morning, also look for another winter coat for Marinda, 6 year old. Made up a sewing basket for my son's wife, made a few phone calls for my husband, did some prep work for dinner tonight, etc etc. It is now 2:30 and I have yet to pick up my needlework or read a book or magizine. Now this is all fine, love my kids and grandkids, but don't even think that I'AM on the couch all day or sleeping till noon.
Still haven't heard from my youngest daughter today, but I will. Funny how the girls will call everyday, but my son will only call once in awhile, he stops in often but not big for the phone.
Going to go now and work on a cross stitch, I was on a knitting rampage for a few months, have a whole drawer of hats and scarfs, and we are having a mild winter.

Thank You for the welcome! COburg is a great town. We got a little sunshine today. It has rained so durned much all the boy's have been going stir crazy, I finally let them out yesterday and it wasn't but 8 or 10 minutes and they were wet, muddy, cold and wanting to come in for a hot bath. The baby's are 2 and 3 and they just love our property, they have a huge sand pile and a great tree for climbing and a ton of mud. NOt so great on the washing machine but when the weather is decent we hose everything off and let it drip dry before we bring it in to wash. It will be fun getting to know you all more, it seems like all my freinds are so busy, alot have gone back to work or do alot I don't have many that like all the farmstuff. I love it, I came from a family of mellon farmers from Dillard Oregon and they always had a big flock of sheep and a fruit stand to run that the city life just never completely set right with me. Did you know alot of neighborhoods have rules against a clothsline? I can't live without it.

Hang your clothes on the line, they will dry unless it is raining....

Hi Stacy and Laura,
Laura, do you live in Clarence now, or you used to? and Stacy where is maryland, Yes this is a great site, learn somthing new everyday, lots of good ideas flooting around. Can't wait for garage sale season to begin, but then where will I find time for all the things I have going on now, need a longer day, but since God decided to divide them up into seven, I guess we just have to learn to plan better.

I here you on that longer day thing, but I would probaly just try to fit even more in than I already do. Maryland is a small town which is near Cooeprstown, which is famous for the baseball hall of fame. We are between Cooperstown and Oneonta. It's a nice place to live, becoming more touristy every year. Somday I hope to have a farm stand and be a part of the tourist thing. we'll see how that goes. already have too much on my plate right now. Peace, Stacy
