Energy Vampires.... sounds like my brother's girlfriend...or fiance.... we are hoping they don't marry ... you ever just get around someone and their aura was just ..... bad? I did energy healing on her once and I swear my hands felt like they were the back parts of a magnet put together..repelling me! NO ONE... who meets her...likes her.... I can't really figure out why but my spirit seems to "know".....My brother and I are close siblings ...and it's always been thought we were like twins...so I can't figure out for the life of me WHAT he sees in her and why he seems to be able to be around her (even though he is seeming to wither away ...) when everyone else cannot!! it's bewildering and baffling to me!
Oh and .. sorry, girls..I lost track of this thread and missed it tremendously! I apoligize!

Annie-we are 35 miles North of Brainerd. It's a nice area.
Shop is on the back burner for the moment....there was some seriously underhanded dealing attempted on the part of the person presently renting the building, so I wait until Goddess says the time is right :)
as for the stick lady, no idea!
as things settle down I will get the group organised for our little online farmgirl coven. sorry it's taken so long! Feel free to swap among yourselves and such though!!

Now is the time to find straw brooms (Halloween decorations)...could I decorate one special for the swap? That would be really fun. I don't mean just Fall/halloween but a nice year-round useful one.

Linda, I would love to swap a broom (besom)with you. Brooms have such great meanings in all cultures. I don't post much, but I love reading everyone's thoughts. Let me know. Peace and blessing |

Yo Sistas you know the Besom Swap is still on! I have 6 participants so far. . . anyone want to jump in? I have been super busy with Harvest (I was asking for abundance, now my mantra is for ease). Whatta year! I also am psyched about having Amy Warwick come visit this week, while she doin' her "Meet the Author" tour. I hope to get pics to share. . .

Thanks Heide! I'm looking forward to it as well.
Have all of you read THE MISTS OF AVALON? Just wanted to know what the witchy farmgirls thought.

I love that book. I have read it and many other books in that series. Quite an interesting twist on the traditional Autherian saga. Amy, is your book available on Kindle yet and if so, will it have the text-to-speech option? I love being able to listen to the whole book while I work. I read like crazy when I have the time but I work so many hours doing tedious tasks (like picking fleeces and washing wool) or canning that it's great to be able to "read" and work at the same time! So many of the new books no longer have the text-to-speech option which is very disappointing. I haven't read your book yet but sure want to as soon as the cooler weather hits and I have some free time. I am looking forward to Diana Gabaldon's new one coming out this month. Nothing like time travel since I consider myself a stranded time traveler in this century!!

Oh yes! I love the Mists of Avalon, I think I read it 6 or 7 times and named my youngest daughter for Morgaine (changes slightly to JillianMorganne) since my midwife was the one who introduced me to the book. And Diana Gabaldon too! yes! great books! Please explain the besom swap to me. I love doing "swaps" and knit alongs etc!

The Besom Swap is where we buy or make brooms (of shipping size) and bless them before trading them with our witchy sisters. If you are interested than email me and I will add you to our list. I personally got some cool (nearly extinct) Broom Corn seed and have been growing it this season specifically to make Besoms out of it. I hope to add dried flowers and herbs to bless the Besom with so that whomever recieves it will have a powerful tool to cleanse their sacred spaces. I am adding some photos of out here on the Nude Food farm. We had an excellent electrical storm that's finale was a rainbow ending in our garden.
Our Hop Tunnel
The Amaranth (common name; where my love lies bleeding) one of my all time favorites to grow.
Feast yer eyes on this sunflower!
Finally, pics of the Broom Corn
Then one up closer, so you can see the "Broom" part.

Heide,
What an awesome garden you have! The Amaranth is beautiful! And, I don't guess I've ever seen broom corn before. Not at all what I thought it would look like.

Sheri,
I know that SUMMER SNOW is available on Kindle. I do not believe that it has the speech to text option, but I will check with Amazon and get back to you. I am going to Prosser on Thursday to do a book signing with some of MJ's farmgirls. It is at Carol's bookstore from 1-4 and then there is a farmgirl reception that night at a B&B in Prosser. Not sure how far Elk is from there, but you are welcome if you want to join. I too listen to many books on tape/cd, but have yet to splurge on a Kindle. Someone at my book signing just told me about Diana Gabaldon this week-end. That wasn't you was it? I had never heard of her before.
Best,
Amy |

Thanks Ladies! The farm is organic, so for every flower you see there is 10 weeds and 100 bugs. lol.
If anyone else wants in on this Besom Swap get to emailin me. I plan on putting everyones name in a hat and drawing partners, then I will email everyone personally with the exchange info. I was planning on doing it for Winter Solstice but I think we should aim for Halloween. Any input or preference?
Amy, I so look forward to tomorrow! How lucky am I to be honored with such a fantastic guest. You Rock!

Heide,
I'm really looking forward to participating in this swap, but I was counting on Winter Solstice. With working full time, the holidays coming up, the other swaps I'm involved in and my community volunteer activities, my plate is pretty full between now and November 1.
I wonder if broom corn would grow in South Texas??

Many thanks to Heide, her husband Bill and their beautiful little girls Oceana and Avia for the great overnighter at their farm. The hops house and tunnel are beautiful and the broom corn was incredible. Heide took me on a tour of the vineyard that she and Bill work at and I got to eat grapes from the vine. What a treat. She also took me to gravity hill which is legend to be haunted by a little girl who pushes your car UP hill and you sit in neutral. The car went up hill twice and the section of road is about 1/8th of a mile long. It was a trip. The farmgirl meeting was fun, filled with good food and many laughs. Thanks Prosser Farmgirl Chapter for hosting me and to Heide for letting me stay overnight and sharing your awesome wine. Sorry it couldn't be longer.
Many blessings....

Hello Ladies, I intended to show off these pictures earlier but how time flies when one is in the middle of harvest.
First off I want to thank "The Amy Warwick" (there is more than one in a town of 500) for such a lovely visit. Her book is inspirational and in person she is so great. It is so nice to be with women who walk a different path in life and that are proud of their travels. You go girl!
So first off here is a pic of Amy at the book signing at a fellow farmchicks, Carol's gallery, Sixth Street Art Gallery in Prosser.
Then in between the book signing and the farmchick meeting, I got to take Amy and show off the local activities. In this pic Amy is eating grapes off the vine in the oldest vineyard in Prosser.
Then there is the awesome story of Gravity Hill. If your ever in town, I would be more than happy to take you there. It is really cool and bizarre. Can you see the upward slope to the grain elevator? When you park on the start line, put your car in neutral and it will coast uphill.
Lastly there is the farmchick meeting, Rene is the one standing, telling everyone what is going on.
Thanks again Amy for coming and staying with me and my family. You being true to yourself and your family inspires us all to keep it real.
From one witchy sister to another, You Rock!
