I want to make an apron for my secret sister at church, but I'm not sure how to guess on the sizing. How can I make sure it will fit her? Thanks! |

I'm "plus" size.......how plus size is she?
I never tried on aprons when I was a super plus size. (3/4 X) But, now I'm around a Extra Large, or 1X, and my bust is still kind of a XX size. I'm about 160lbs and 4'8, I used to be 250 lbs.
Any way, at my weight now, I've been able to basically wear any apron I have came across (I try to find vintage), however at my super plus size, I'm not sure if I could wear a regular one or not.......I think so though as long as the ties were long enough.

Well, I was too intimidated to try a bib apron, so I just made a half apron with long ties. I'm not sure how "plus" size she is- that's why I was afraid to make a full apron. I should have just asked how long to make the straps, but I think they're probably long enough. I can tie it in the front of me with extra length, so hopefully it will fit her. Thanks for your advice, Heather! |

Welcome.
However, I was shocked at how much better the bib apron looks on me then a half. I thought because of my size a half would look better, but the bib kind looks good, and I just got it at a store, already made, it was hand made, but still a average size. I think even bib aprons, after my experience would be fine, as long as the ties are long enough.

I am still plus size. 1x....I wear a full apron, that has no waist, I think on me, a waisted apron, well,,,,makes me,,..uh...more "veluptuous" I will say, than I really am...I love my waistless full apron....You could have another lady at church that is also close to her, ask her, for you and then you'll know, all the while of course, her not knowing....teehee!

Yes Exactly Terri, that's why I didn't like the half apron on me, accentuated places I didn't want so voluptuous! lol hahahaha
Good idea about having some one else find out. lol
