http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/10/veterans.health.insurance/index.html
But this one steams me to no end. The proposal is to make our Veterans, our heroes, our one's who laid their lifes on the line and were willing to DIE for this country, to PAY for SERVICE CONNECTED Injuries received while fighting for this country. It is disgusting and disgraceful and if it passes, you will see one cowgirl in Washington real quick!!
Thank you for reading.

The system is SOOO broken. I agree, the vets should NEVER have to pay (in fact they should be PAID) for war related injuries. In contrast, Ole Ron served in Korea, after the conflict was over. Was there for about 6 months rebuilding telephone lines. Yes, we blow it up and then we go fix it. Anyway, now 50 years later, he had a heart atack and the VA sends him all his meds. He is a diabetic and they send him all his insulin. It would cost us $600 a month if it were not for the VA. We are truly greatful. Ole Ron would not be alive now (or we would be on welfare) if not for the VA. BUT none of his problems are Army or service related. Figure that one out. If a person has war related injuries, It is ABSOLUTELY the VA's responsibility.
Heather, let me know, I'll go with you to Washington. |

I believe anyone who wore a uniform at peace time or war time should be able to go to Vets Hospital for free. Especially those injured fighting in a war.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

Yes, Heather I totally agree, what that article suggests is just plain wrong and utterly disgusting. Vets should never ever have to pay for any service related injury period. What gives me hope is the one comment in the article that if the plan should reach congress, it would be "dead on arrival".... Belle, I agree with you, my dad was also a Korean war vet, and he has had heart and lung related issues which without the help of the V.A. would put my parents in a difficult financial situation. The VA hospital has been a blessing to them regarding both cost of meds and in doctor's visits. Thank goodness our vets at least have been given that privilege, let's just hope that doesn't get taken away!

Thanks for the alert....you're right...there's something seriously wrong with this!!! We should all be grateful for the individuals who are (and have been) willing to fight for this country...they should be rewarded.
......but we (well NOT all of us, LOL) DID elect one president that RAN AWAY instead of joining up...go figure......

My husband is an Honorably Discharged Vet (Medically and has injuries service-related) and it irks me that he gets billed from the VA. It is just so wrong.

Free medical for the men & women who serve, served to allow us to be Free..anytime during their life time...as needed.. Is my vote. My son was in the service in Desert storm. Thankfully he was un injured physically... but some of his buddies were not so lucky.

I agree, Vets should not have to pay for anything. These are wonderful brave people and I applaud and thank everyone of them. I lost a nephew in Iraq, he was on his 4th tour defending our country and keeping us free to do just what I am doing right now!!!!
