I get together with a group of great gals every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and have for several years now. We "craft" talk, laugh and eat!
We used to take turns going to each others homes and the hostess would fix dinner and then after dinner we'd pull out whatever we were working on and sit there and talk and craft and then have dessert. Then one of our talented gals, Jamie, opened her own quilt shop on the edge of town...The Quilted Heart. So now every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. when she closes shop we gather there and each bring our own project we're working on and our own supper that we heat in her microwave. It's actually REALLY great to have it at her shop because she has iron and ironing board set up, sewing machines, big tables to cut things out or lay them out and plus GREAT company and fabrics and supplies should we need any!
Check out my blog for pictures of the shop, my friends and their projects...they are VERY talented!
Do any of you have a group you get together with? Tell us about it and share what you do and what makes it special to you. My friends are very inspiring and helpful to me. What one doesn't know the other one does...we share knowledge, tools & tips, and recipes and magazines and craft books. I'll post more pictures of the shop next week and Jamie does long arm quilting if anyone needs that done. She has 2 machines and I think her prices are pretty reasonable as is everything else in Arkansas.

Thanks for the pictures Sandra, sounds and looks like a lot of fun. I wish I had someone to teach me crafting of any kind!

I love your spring pictures of the Ozarks too. We have at least another month or more here before any of the trees start blooming.

oh Sam, I'm very jealous. What a nice thing to be able to do. Just like in some books I have read about quilters. It sounds like a lot of fun.

That looks like such fun, Sandra. You are lucky to have a group you can get together with. I need to find one or start on myself.

Dawn....we had SNOW today and 33 degrees! But it will warm up by the weekend and the snow didn't stick but it is Spring playing it's usual jokes on all of us!
As for crafts....I'll teach you anything I know if you want. We could do this online or via email. What do you want to learn? I'm sort of self-taught in some areas because my Mother was not "crafty" and she was a career woman...I even did her mending for her. But there are lots of websites too...like www.ehow.com for just about anything and I know there was one that had videos on crafting. The women on this chat room are SO talented....just ask out there and you'll get a hundred replies! They are VERY helpful! But I will do whatever I can too to help you.
Yes, Nancy Jo, I do love it and it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble! We laughed a lot last night! Wish you were closer...we would love to have you! You could teach us embroidery because none of us do that although I think most of us did crosstitch at one time or another.
I painted my bathroom today but it needs another coat. The kids are coming March 21st so I have to "clean up my act" literally!

Cute Sam! Did you get ice today? All our poor trees are frozen! Our entire orchard (apples and pears) had already bloomed! I don't think we'll be getting a crop this year now! :(

Right now I am crocheting rectangles for Warm Up America and also 2 little bunnies for my grandbaby boys for Easter. I have never quilted BUT this coming Tuesday I am starting my first beginner quilting class and I am really excited about that! So, maybe I'll have some quilting to show down the road!

Sandra...about a year ago, two evil women took over our quilters guild and made it a terrible place to get together...so, 7 of us left this group and started our own group called the DQ's (Disgruntled Quilters) We have two guys in our group, on of them is gay and he calls us the Drama Queens. We gather at each other's houses once a month, bring plenty of food and sit and sew all day long. Sometimes we even have slumber parties and spend the night and continue until the wee hours. We go to Quilt Retreats, Quilt shows and have so much fun NOW! It is soooo inspiring to get together with crafty people...isn't it?

Debbie that's a hoot! Drama Queens! Ha! I love it! Yes, the inspiration is amazing...just like I get here from you gals! So many projects...so little time!
I think sometimes groups get TOO big and that causes problems. They used to say for meetings that you can't accomplish anything if there are more than 7 people in on it...so no wonder our government has been having so much trouble! LOL! Glad you broke off and kept the spirit alive!
