Hi again my farmgirl friends. Jus' wanted to share with you all my Easter salt dough ornaments. I'd had a few of you ask me to let you know when they were ready - well, I finally got 'em finished jus' before nightfall. There are simply not enough hours in the day - AMEN!
Hop on over if you'd like and be sure to post for a chance to win your own lil' basket full.
Blessings for a beautiful week. Cathy

Cathy- I would like to make the chicks in the egg for Charlie's daycare class. How is the wire inserted? I know I have to make holes before I bake. Does the wire run across the back? I want to make them safe for 3 year olds. Thanks!!! : )

Hi Heather - when I insert the wire - I simply place it deep into the dough before baking. On the chicks - it is jus' inserted on each side. Now honestly, from time to time - it doesn't "stick". Then I jus' stick it back in there with hot glue.
Let me give you an alternative for the lil' ones for safetys sake. At the top of the chick - make a hole with a straw before baking - be generous with it because it will swell shut during baking if it is not large enough. Then when you finish painting them - simply run a cute ribbon or piece of homespun through them for hanging. That might be your best option.
Have fun - I think they will be so cute for his class!!! Good luck! Cathy

Those are adorable! I love them all! The Easter basket is really darling. I love Easter decorations, they really add a lot of desperately needed color to the house. Can't wait to see what you make next week Cathy! Thanks for sharing!

Kathy - I simply paint them with acrylic craft paint - I use a burnt umber glaze over the paint and them I clear coat them with "clear" spray paint. That's it - easy as 1,2,3.
Good Luck from one Cathy to Another! Have fun!
