Hubby & I (and the boys, of course) got down and dirty in the backyard this weekend! We bought 3 white Birch trees and something called Greuillea (small cute tree) at a local nursery. The trees only cost $16.95 a piece and they are 10 ft tall and already blooming, PLUS they survived a wind storm here last night. These trees totally make our backyard beautiful! Hubby also created a wood border all around the side of the fencing. He was so cute, wearing his muck boots, worn in jeans, and a smile on his face the whole time. All he needed was a straw hat, I swear! I planted cuttings from lavender, roses and geraniums, along with some other cuttings from a neighbor. The boys dragged wood, dug holes, and at the end of the day, they washed my car. We visited with a few neighbors throughout the weekend, and it was so nice~friends and sunshine~who could ask for more? I just have the warmest feeling every time I look out into the backyard, I just had to share.
What has everyone else been up to in the garden?
*I've got stars in my eyes and exactly $1 in my pocket!* |

That sounds like my kind of weekend! I just potted up 6 more hydrangeas and some cactus babies from the neighbor. I got into it with some ants and aphids trying to take over one of my gardenias, still waiting to see who won.I also put the next layer of mulch and peat moss on my container, tire and bagged potatoes. It's sort of a race. This weekend I'm going to repot all my roses and ready one of my beds for some of the seedlings I've started this winter. |
