We got our first kids of the season today! Our 3yo Nubian doe, Penny, had two little bucklings this morning. All are happy and healthy this afternoon; I've got pictures on my 'Bits' blog. Our other doe looks to be getting ready to kid also, so there should be a few more coming soon. :)

Molly, they are so cute. Yep, they have the elf ears. I have a Nubian, too, and I used my Lamancha buck the last 2 years on her and she has the elf eared kids, too. But they are still so cute. The first time I bred her with a Kiko-Boer and she had the most beautiful set of twins with the longest ears. But I have 5 Lamancha does so I have to go with Lamancha. I might try to find a nice Nubian buck to breed her with next year because I do like the long ears. And she has pretty kids.

Do you just have the 2 does? And do you milk them?

We have about 7 weeks to go on our girls. I can hardly wait. Then the fun begins!

Thanks, Kristin, I think they are pretty cute, too. Their mama sure is proud!

I just have the two does; I had a Lamancha doe but ended up selling her this summer as feed costs were high and I really didn't need 3 does. I do milk my Nubians; I get about a gallon/ day out of each of them during their peak, which is just about perfect for us.

Good luck with the kids you have coming; I hope it all goes smoothly for your does. Can't wait to see your little darlings when they arrive!

Thanks, everyone! I guess her cousin, our other expectant mother, got a little jealous of all the attention we were giving to the babies and she went and had hers today also! 3 darling babies; 2 girls (finally!) and a boy. :) 5 kids total for us, and what busy moms I have here now!
