Over on my blog I have pictures of a sweet antique sink that I was given recently. I have never seen one like this and was wondering if you have! It is very unique and a keeper!

MJL,
That is just too cute. Where did your daughter's friend get that? I have never seen one like that. What a lucky girl you are to have it and how nice it looks in that room.

That is an adorable sink! I actually have seen ones like that before on Antique shows. I also saw a bidet that had a table top cover! Someone was using it as a coffee table!

I think your sink is wonderful! And I love the way you have everything arranged on it!

What a wonderful little find! I bet that is pretty rare, too. I remember reading that pioneers, who had a few nicer things, would take them along on the wagons heading West. MAybe that is how it ended up in California! Wouldn't you love to know? Most of all, it is nice to see what a wonderful home it has found now! Thanks for sharing that!

Oh, and I also saw one once that was a potty, too. In fact, as a child my grandmother had a wooden chamber potty in her bedrooms, because she still had an outhouse. When it was closed, it looked much the same.

I remember seeing something similar on Antiques Roadshow. They said it was used in the better hotels and probably held a 'Thunder Mug' (empty) below. Maybe??? If only it could talk. Your is in beautiful condition too. MB

That's a cool sink! I've never seen one like that before where the top comes down.

It reminds me of a sink/cupboard from a ship that I saw in antique store many years ago. The one I saw was narrower, taller, but had doors that opened to reveal a little sink with a spigot and faucets. I didn't pay too much attention to it at the time, beyond thinking that it was quite the cool item. I've never seen one like yours, it is very sweet.

MaryJane,
How cute is that!!!! I could see it being used in a little apartment in the late 1800's when furniture had to do double duty...thus a stand/sink...I to would love to know what that cute littles story is.

Cheryl - I just made a fresh batch of the rose soap. It's sitting on the drying rack and should be ready in a week. Smells good!
