Doug and I watched Changelings the other day and then I saw it mentioned in the thread about the TV Series LOST.

Wow! I really liked the movie, but it was also very sad. I thought that Angelina Jolie did an amazing job making the emotions real. The thing that was running through my head the whole time was "It's Based on a True Story!"

If I hadn't know it was based on a true story I probably would have thought it was a bit odd.

Also I wish they would have picked a different name. To me, the name Changeling implies something magical since there are the folk tales about Faerie stealing children away and replacing with a fake child- a changeling who whill thrive for a while then die.

So anyway- What did you all think about the movie?

Alee they could make a movie about the happenings to my Uncle Leland. At the age of three was placed in an insane asylum just because he had lazy eye. What happened back then would surprise us all. The things that were done to mothers or children back then as to today standards would just blow your mind. Even my uncles mother was hospitalized for post partum depression for the rest of her life. She had twins her fourth and fifth child back about 1916 and died in the early 40's still in the mental hospital. Her children were told she died in childbirth. How would you like to find out that your mother was alive and you never got to see her? Like my husband noted that in about 100 years they will look back on our history and wonder why too.

I liked the movie. I just wish the story had a happier ending but since it was true they could not change it. I kept thinking that poor women whoever she really was had to live through that. it wasn't a movie then. It was kinda scarey!!! Things sure were different then.

I just can't imagine the terror of being strapped down to a table about to be electruted when you _know_ there is nothing wrong with you!

I was the one who brought it up in the LOST section...
I thought it was a good/interesting movie just extremely disturbing! Those police were so corrupt! I can't imagine being treated the way she was treated! Being told that that kid was her son and because she was a woman, she didin't know what she was talking about. Meanwhile there was nobody looking for him. The mental institution scenes were awful and depressing! Madelynne sorry about your family members, how terrible. Then the hanging scene(even though he got what he deserved) was not something that I wanted to be etched in my memory.

I was worried that it would be much more graphic than it was. I sure have been thinking a lot about it lately though! I do wonder what ever happened to her kid though.

Bridget - It's out!

I just got it on Netflix the other day and was finally able to watch it last night. It broke my heart. I had done some research back when it first came to theatres, so I kind of knew what was going to happen. Christine Collins was an amazing woman, and I definitely admire her. I just wish she could have found out what happened to Walter before she passed away.
