I love to write. Poetry, journals, stories for children, stories in general, etc. I took a great course through the Institute of Children's Literature a few of years ago and learned LOTS! Have been getting a manuscript ready to send to publishing houses. Regardless, I just NEED to write no matter if anyone ever reads my things or not..in fact my personal poems are for myself and I rarely share them.......weird, huh? Anyway I'd like to know who likes to write, what subjects you write about, and when you usually write your best work?

Looking forward to your replies....

I love to write also. I write children's stories, poetry, and fantasy fiction. I'm like you. Most of my poetry is for myself and I usually do not share.

Here are two of the children's stories that I have written.

I also do children's stories that teach about the world around us. I am hoping to someday get one of them published.

Back in 4th grade, the teacher introduced us to keeping a daily journal. From that point on, I kept a diary for many years and would make an entry evey evening before going to bed. My last one was dated 1997. On new years eves, I would give a year's summary and make predictions for the new year.

Any significant event that yielded a piece of paper, birthdays, weddings, really anything to document the occasion was kept on that day and stuffed into the pages.

It's really kind of neat to go back and read and actually remember what happened.

Granted, those early years wern't too clearly written.

When I visited Australia for a month and Africa, the discipline to write helped better recall what we saw and experienced. Made for better picture intrepretation when we got back too.

I still have every single diary ever written into

Tina, I enjoyed your bunny stories. And the muslin bunny creations are so sweet.
Good luck in getting published...we must just keep at it. Doing the research on
what publishing houses take what types of stories is the hard part.

I have kept a journal since my kids were little. I still do. Sometimes I go back and read some and it amazes me the things we've been through. The teen years, job losses, job changes. Grandkids... I will have to burn them all before I die because I don't want anyone else to read them. I look back and thing how stupid something was that I wrote and wish I hadn't written it. Anyway, it's all things that I have gone through. Sometimes it makes me sad and I'll cry because of some of the things in the journals. Lots of tears on the pages. But mostly happy times.

That is great Kris, A memory book to pass on.. Don't burn it! thats history and all history is not happy times, our struggles and feelings written down are what makes us human and your words are worthy...your family may not know that side of you...& think of it this way if things were written about a relative of yours that has passed wouldn't you want to have known thembetter.. Sometimes families get out of touch and when they are gone there is no way to learn about them.. Keep journaling..It is good for your soul..,

I love to write also, and always have, since my young years. I never know what will inspire me to write. It is always a spur of the moment thing, and I just let go and let my hand write. Then I go back and polish. It is one of the few things in my life that is totally given over. I love the feeling of not knowing what will come next.....I love poerty and long essays the best.

Computers have helped in that spontaniety.....I start an article and just go, and what comes to mind I write. It is so much easier to go back and edit on the computer!

Cheryl, hopefully I won't have time to burn them all. There are so many. I should make a huge book or something. There sure is alot of history in those journals, for sure.

Hi Kris,
Looking back realistically on my life whether in tears, joy, or down right laughter is what life is all about to me. When I pass on to my new adventure I hope to leave ONE WONDERFUL gift to my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc....and that's the gift of having them know that I had FAULTS, made MISTAKES, had FAILURES, enjoyed HAPPINESS, believed in HOPE, believed that even the simplest of every day living was an accomplishment, and other ACCOMPLISHMENTS were frosting on the cake. Somehow I believe that sharing even my darkest moments will bring them closer to me....and I hope they'll have a REALISTIC picture of me
and who I was....

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
