On November 15,2008 we were blessed with our first grandchild. Mary Catherine O'Rourke weighed in at 6lbs.2oz. 18"long. I had not planned to be with her during delivery but.....
My other dd and I went in to see her, stayed 45 min.,the next thing we knew she pushed hard 4 times and the baby was born! I was waiting for them to take her to "labor and delivery" well my daughter pointed out at the last minute that we were in a birthing unit. I had no idea that I would be right there when Mary Catherine was born. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. I want to be called Grandmother but it looks like I am Nanny Bannanny!

Between my DH and myself - 5 kids - his, mine, and ours. All grown. Then we have 9 grandchildren - 3 turned 13 last year. The youngest is 17 months. We have 4 granddaughters aged 13, 11, 8 and 17 months. The boys are 2 13 year olds, 11, 9 and 4. We babysit with youngest one, Shyanne, every month because daddy is currently deployed overseas and mom has National Guard drill every month. One of the grandsons we acquired when the youngest son got married last summer. And we adore every one of them. All but one live out of state - 3 at Fort Hood, TX; 4 in Arkansas; and then Shy lives in Hope, KS. That is the only problem we have - not having them nearer than they are.

Ok- so I am probably the worlds youngest Nanna, (by my ex- his son was 22 when his girlfriend had the baby- then they split up- I got divorced- but I am actually the only "grandparent" that has stuck around to be close to the "grandkids". There is Chloe, who is 6, Mariah who just turned 4, and Ean, who is 2 1/2. My youngest daughter is 7, almost 8, so Chloe and her are best friends! And I always get the strangest looks when the grandbabies call me Nanna, or Nanny in public- but hey- I wouldn't trade them loving me, or me loving them in that capacity for anything!

I am Nanna to 2 wonderful grandsons, 6 months and 1.5 month. Twins are on their way in May. One boy, One girl. Can't wait to make mud pies, camp, dig for worms to fish with, making bird houses, and dirt bikes. Just the simple acivities that I know my children will not have time for in their busy worlds. Grands are Wonderful!

I have 6 wonderful grandkids! Hailey is 12, Austin is 10, Michaela is 8, Michael is 5, Daymian is 2.5 and Lillie is 15 months. I just adore them all. They love coming to grandma and grandpa's house because we live on 5 acres but have access to 265 more acres. They have the greatest fun just running around and getting tractor pulled wagon rides from grandpa, fishing or taking boat rides in the pond. We all have such a good time together. I'm going to be missing my 3 oldest grandkids here in a couple of months. Their dad is in the navy as a recruiter and has just been promoted to chief and with the promotion is a move to California for 2 years and then to Virginia for 2 more. Both will be great vacation spots for Grandma and Grandpa but I'm sure going to miss them dearly!

Grandkids are the blessing we are given, for surviving raising their parents!

Shari
