I posted some photos of grandma's sewing machine on my blog...go and see it. I have only sewn on it once or twice since I got it from mom in 1976. I am afraid I will break it!
Tell me what you think!

Jeannie - that is great!! I learned to sew on one like that - it belonged to my Great Grandma Grace - my aunt has it now and told me it would be mine someday. Anyhow, those are sturdy as heck, I don't think you need to worry about breaking it:) That's a machine you could throw in the back of a wagon and get it home and it would be fine. What fun!! Jeannie, The machine is absolutely beautiful! I think you will have a hard time breaking it! Even if you dropped it on the floor, it would probably dent the floor and not hurt the machine! You must give it a try!

Actually, I did bring it home in a wagon.... my old volkswagen station wagon! :) I am most concerned about the original leather belt. But I have the manual, rather crumbling, that I could relearn by. Wish my mom were here to teach me.....

Oh funny Jeannie - did you have a VW squareback? We had one when I was a kid and it was my favorite car ever - I loved that it "smiled" Amy Grace

What a beautiful sewing machine. It is wonderful that your grandmother took such good care of it and even kept the receipt! So very special. I unfortunately got rid of one almost identical to yours back in 2001 when we moved to the coast. It was my husbands grandmothers and I would give anything to find it and get it back. Still kicking myself. Tracy
