Yesterday, I found myself illustrating goats instead of fashion figures. For the first time in my life I am living in the city and I am in culture shock. In order to focus, I take my school work down to the park. I am also looking for a community garden. The only thing that is keeping me sain is the agricultural show next month. I am already setting money aside to go. Silly as it may seem, I really miss the smell of a barn.

It's not silly at all. You've had some rough times and now you are moving ahead---but i know the lure of country life too. Just do what you have to do and know that when you have finished school you will be able to move forward into what you want. I will send good vibes your way. MB

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT MISSING THE SMELLS OF THINGS THAT MEAN SO MUCH TO us, whoops, didn't realize the caps were on, Some things aren't tangible but they are very important. Hang in there, Karin

It doesn't sound silly at all Corrine! I miss the smell of a horse stable terribly! Maybe you could find a barn that you could volunteer at, or a vet clinic?

Corrine, Yes, you miss the country life. You are very smart doing school work in the park and searching for a community garden. Hugs.....

Corrine, You can take the girl out of the country but you cannot take the country out of the girl.. (hugs) find a stable, the park idea is good..or even a country market...

I agree with the girls, it's not silly at all. Hopefully, you can find a fix somewhere nearby until you finish school and can get back to the country. I know I'd be terribly homesick if I left the mountains for any length of time.

Thanks. It's so good hear that you girls understand. Everybody here seems to think I should feel so relieved to be in the city. They don't seem to understand why anybody would miss the country. Not that being here isn't an adventure, but it is so far from what I know that I feel lost.

I love all your suggestions. So far I haven't seen a single stable or vet clinic since I got here, but I think I'll google one. Also, I'm going to go to the ag-show website and see about working there for the week. There is no way I am giving up school, I just need to find a way to survive it.
