I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to have your cycle and be pregnant? When I had my son I still got a cycle after him, but it was EXTREMElY light and lasted all of three days.
I got my cycle this month and it was heavy in the beginning, though it hasn't lasted long.
The reason I wonder is because I am still having the nausea on a regular basis, along with fatigue, and dizziness. You can't use the pregnancy tests in the stores until you have missed your period or like 2 days before. Well, technically, I haven't missed so I don't know if it'll read properly. Any thoughts?

As a side note: I do have sugar problems...can that act like pregnancy?
thanks

Jessie- the reason they say wait until you have "missed" your period is because the tests require a certain level of hormone to be built up but it has nothing to do with your period and everything to do with length of time since conception. If you period started but is acting weird, you could take the test.

It is possible to have a period when you are pregnant. There are several reasons. It could be implant bleeding, though that is very light. If you became pregnant closer to your period some of the lining may still be shed.

Also I know you are having trouble sleeping. My husband does the same thing to me- stays up late, makes noise and then sleeps in till noon. I suggest buying some comfortable moldable foam earplugs. I am serious! Even putting in one and sleeping on that ear so you could turn over and hear the babies, or asking DH to remove the ear plug for you as he comes to bed or something- putting a bell on the kid's door?

Thanks Alee. I think I will be heading out before too long to get a test, just to be sure one way or the other. I'd hate to wait until next month as I alway seem to have trouble with pregnancies even in the first two weeks. :P

The earplugs are a great idea. I will have to have CR get me some. I know they are around here somewhere. You would think that I would be oblivious to husband noises by now, but no such luck. Hoepfully, this will work as well for me too!

Thanks

I've seen a comercial on TV recently for a test that supposedly tells you if you are pregnant up to TWO WEEKS BEFORE your missed period.

Jesse, I agree with Alee. You can definitely take the test. I did when my surprise happened, my DD. I had same thing as you but took the test and wham-o.
Good luck,
Cindy

I've heard of it happening before and if you are pregnant and feeling morning sickness then that means your body has enough hormones to show up pregnant on the test.
With baby #3 I had normal bleeding for one day when my period was due, then it stopped. A few days later I took a pregnancy test and it was positive.

*By the way, when I was 19 I had two weeks of feeling nausea, fatigue, and dizziness. Then it went away. Looking back I think it had something to do with the cat we had recently gotten...what's it called...toxaplasma something or other. I think I had that. Have you been exposed to a new cat recently?

No, no new cats persay. We do have one that has been coming around recently that gets into things outside like the trash and dog food that I keep having to clean up. That could be it. :) I am severly allergic to cats, so I can't have them too close at hand. :P

I'm a little worried if I have to tell my husband that I want to go get a pregnancy test, he will get upset with me. The last couple of times that I've taken the test, I've gotten my cycle like that night or the next day. He sees it as a waste of money. I wonder, if maybe its my sugar messing with things? I didn't drink anything but water today and stayed away from the sweets. Apart from a small headache and a little dizziness, I didnt have any nausea and what I did have was only for a bit.
I wouldn't be so weird about taking the preg. tests, but I didn't the last time until I was 2 months along because I got my period on the first month. I WAS SHOCKED when we were expecting that second time. Tori was only 8 months old and I was already 2 months along with Levi...really would like to think myself better knowledgeable this time..:X

You can definitely have a period while being pregnant. Also, you don't have to wait until you miss a period to take a pregnancy test. All the tests look for is a certain amount of hormones in your urine. Many tests can detect the hormones only a few days after intercourse, as long as the hormone levels are strong.

Jessie- Call public health and/or Planned Parenthood. They do the tests for free.

Also morning is best time to take them early on, as the hormone levels are highest in the first AM urine.

Also if you don't have public health or planned parenthood around you, dollar tree's test work just fine! (1.00 each).

They truly are all the same (kind of like generic versus brand name drugs). It's just detecting hormones in your urine, the 1.00 ones are exactly the same as the 20 dollar ones.

There is some more expensive then 20 dollars that supposedly can tell even earlier on, but there is controversy as to their accuracy-IE if they really can tell any earlier then the regular 20 dollar ones.

The ones for 1.00 at the dollar tree, are the same as your average 20 dollar urine one at say walmart/grocery store. Not the say 50 dollar ones that CLAIM they can tell much earlier.

If it's already time for you to have a cycle though, it's plenty far enough along for the 1.00/20.00 kind to work. Again just make sure to use the first morning urine as to be on the cautious side of giving it the most amount of hormones you can. And don't worry it won't show positive if it's not really positive. You would have NONE of the hormones needed to show a positive if you were not pregnant. However, it does need a certain amount to be able to read it on the urine test, and just to be sure you are giving it enough, early on it's best to take it with the first morning urine.

This is exactly what happened to me with my first child. I had what I though was a my period, although a light one, and had no idea I was pregnant. I then thought I had the flu or some stomach bug that wouldn't go away. I finally did a home pregnancy test when my next period didn't come, and when I went to see the doctor, he said, "You're about 8 weeks pregnant!" I was stunned, and angry, too, at myself, because I had not known and had had alcohol at a wedding, and had even taken Gravol for the nausea, thinking it was the flu.

Get the test, and get some peace of mind!

Oh, Dollar General here has a cheapie test for $1. I've used those two tests for my last two pregnancies and they both worked just as well as the more expensive tests. I'm sure CR wouldn't object to $1 to ease your mind!

What-ever the outcome I hope its a happy one. I was text book perfect with both of my son's. I went to the doctor on my due date 12-28th he examined me and said I'll see you next week and I said no you told me I would have the baby today. He said if you have his baby today I'll eat my hat. I had Jason the next day at 1:05am The doctor came in with his hat in his mouth. Best Wishes

Oh Diane! My pregnancies were easy too (except the middle one-- I carried that boy so looooww I thought he was gonna fall out on his head!). I had midwives deliver all three of my babies. The same one, Elizabeth, delivered the first two. She told her partner, Lisa, "I just LOVE delivering THIS one's babies! All you need to do is just sit there and CATCH it!!!" I don't think Lisa really believed her at first.

It turned out Lisa WAS the one on call when I went into labor. She got to the Hospital about 5:00 am or so, a cute little red dress on, a cup of coffee in one hand. She said "Oh, I'll be back in a bit, just let me get changed..." as she headed out of the room the OB Nurse stopped her and said "Uh, Lisa, you might want to get changed REAL QUICK and get right back in here!!!" I had my son about 20 minutes later!!! After he was born she goes "Wow, guess I better LISTEN to Elizabeth when she tells me one of our ladies has babies QUICK!!!" he..he..he..he....
