Well, it's not a surface or a drawer...it's MICE!
I've taken out 8 in 3 days, but I think they are repeat customers so in the last 2 days I have drive the last 3 several miles away.
What's weird is that I'm not infested. I mean, they aren't running underfoot and making nests and messes all over. They just crawl through my ceiling (I live in a yurt and it has insulation under the roof and then a "tent" like cover between me and the insulation) and go for the traps at night. Very gracious of them....
So that's my clean up story these days.

EWWW We had mice in our house! They were too smart to go for the traps. I hate to do it, but when it becomes them or my daughter's health I had to resort to poison!
I am glad your little buggers are considerate enough to go for the live traps!

We use D-Con and it works fairly well. Biggest problem is that they don't always go away to die. Had one die right in the middle of the kitchen floor not too long ago. My grandson and his two little ones were here. Grandson is the one to find it. I was really embarrased. Had to scrub the kitchen floor right then and there.
Allison, you are to be commended, I think. Not in a million years would I haul off a live mouse. Ole Ron takes care of the live ones. But for sure, they don't come back. |

Alee, they are Buddhist mice after all. LOL Maybe they are nice about going into the traps because they want good karma!
Belle, I'm not so brave. I wear thick leather work gloves to carry the traps off to free them elsewhere.
I think, compared to tarantulas, I've just decided they are less creepy...lol

Not being smart here, but a cat really does work. My daughter had a terrible mouse problem in her apt. and she got a second cat. They had taken care of the problem in a couple of nights and when she got up in the morning they "trophies" were all nicely lined up in front of her bedroom door. Good kitties!
As for me, I do live in town, but I get the occasional mouse. I tend to stun it with the bristle end of a broom and then dispatch it with the business end. Not pleasent, but its gone!

Allison- I think you need to come tell the mice in my area something! Actually I checked my latest bait and it seems that the "message" that I don't want them around got through. No poison has been eaten in a month or more and I haven't been finding their little "gifts" anywhere.
I actually am really okay with mice and such if they stay in their natural environment- which is not my kitchen! *icky dance here* I really hate killing things...
Actually I held a tarantula once and it was pretty cool! She walked from my palm up my arm and onto my shoulder!

Oh.....ick! Sorry, Alee, but I'm an arachnaphobic. But I have had to evict 4 tarantulas from the yurt last summer.
It seems the mice are gone for now. I do think they get the point after awhile.

| Allison, do you use cage traps or glue traps? I had to free a mouse from a catch and release glue trap once, and it was quite a process. Is there a quick and convenient way to do it? |
