Did you know that yesterday was National Pie Day? Sounds like a great holiday for farmgirls. Did anyone celebrate it?

I did not make a pie and I'm sure my thighs are glad. But I did write a blog post in honor of the day.

I agree Victoria, apparently the pie enthusiasts don't have a lobby in Washington. I'm going to mark that day in my calendar and make sure it doesn't slide by me next year....December something is Earmuff Day, in honor of Chester Greenwood, inventor of earmuffs. I think that is only a Maine ho liday, and I haven't heard anyone bring it up for oh, twenty five years or so. I could do with some earmuffs today, and about five extra wool blankets, it's cold inside. I may have to make a belated pie day pie this week....

I didn't know there was a national pie day. My sister did make some pies yesterday, so I guess she celebrated without knowing it. My sister made a few Sugar Cream pies for a family gathering.

I think I like all pies, but here are a few of my very favorites. Chocolate pie with merigue, Apple Pie, Strawberry pie with whipped cream, and Sugar Cream pie.

Well that was one holiday that we missed here. I'll mark it on my calendar for next year! I love pie, perhaps a little too much!

I will definitely mark that on the calendar for next year!!! I won't tell my husband, as he'll be very sorry that I missed this particular holiday, especially since I pride myself on my pies.

Some of our favorites around the house are my Gennessee Valley Apple (with the butter streusel crust), Key lime, Butterscotch (no meringue for me, though), and sweet potato (my recipe is civil war era).

I knew about it and made a Lemon Cheese Pie. It was so good. Between my husband and teenage son it was gone in 15 minutes! I wish there were more holiday's like this!

Blessings!

OH shoot! I did not know about this. That would have given me an "excuse" to make a chocolate cream pie. Oh well, I guess I will have to make one anyways -cause you girls have got my tongue-a-waggin'! lol I'm definitely writing this down for next year.
