I made the sour dough starter recipe from Mary Janes last magazine.
It did everything it was suppose to do until I baked it.

I used a cast iron saucepan, lined in parchment paper, let it set in the oven for 6 hours and baked it. It did not rise and was doughy inside and very heavy.

Any suggestions on what I did wrong ?
Thanks

Welcome Peggy from a fellow Missourian! I haven't tried the bread yet, but the link that Bonne posted has lots of info on it.

Hey Peggy, I had problems as well..mine was doughy inside too. and it was a good paper weight. I would check out the thread and it could be that it got to cold while it was rising...I'm not sure. But I would say try again and see what you can make of it!
