I bought a supposed antique half apron, well, it's supposed to be from the 1940's. I stuck it in the sink with some warm water and eco-friendly soap, and the fabric is bleeding! You'd think if it were that old, it would have been washed a number of times by now, enough that the dye wouldn't run. It's purple with white palm trees on it, with bright green rick-rack ribbon edges. The water is a massive dark purple now! Did they really have that type of cheerful print (cotton) back in the 40's? Did I get scammed? Did Merle Haggard just stop in and buy most of the aprons like the owner said he did? Am I just a dunce? {{sigh}} I really think it's cute, but I hate being lied to.![](icons/icon_smile_dead.gif)

I wouldn't discount that it was a vintage apron just because it bleeds,, but I must say that is puzzling....if it was used you would think it would have bled out . Could you post a picture? I have been researching fabric forever, I might be able to help.
