I got these at an estate sale last summer. They are so interesting to look at and read. I thought with the way the money seems to be going awaaaaay. I better get these out and read what the women were doing to stretch a dollar during the war. Love the pictures and advertizing.

I was looking at them after I posted this and seeing all the products I had forgotten about. So many things were sold in glass containers, not cans or plastic. The women were dressed so nice, and the shoes were so practical. The babies wore cloth diapers, the women used Camey or lux soap. So glad I picked these magazines up, the recipes are good too.

I was just at the Collectible Store (and antiques) and was looking at the cookbooks and there was a Womans Home Companion Cookbook for 2 dollars. I will have to wait until Monday but I will check on it for you and if it is the age you would like I will get it for you. You want the 40s? I grew up using Camey Soap and I remember when I was in High School they 'new and improved it' and it made me break out (which I never had done) so I have never used it since. MB

Those books are wonderful. If ever get up to NY again, I will so have to come acallin' on ya and we can head to the thrifts and collectible shops together. Show me your tricks of the trade. I go in the stores and always seem to miss wonderful things...lol hugs

Life should NOT be a jounrey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming. "WOOHOO, what a ride!"
