Today while stopping at the market to pick up a couple items, I accidently dropped my household debit card as I was getting out of the car, Dh went to park & wait for me.. At the check stand I
reached into my purse to pay for my things, I was using my account so I didn't notice I didn't have the household debit card. We were then at the gas station and went to use the household account for purchacing of the gas & I freaked out.. I could not believe I had lost it.. I had just had it in my hand. I made my husband take me back to the store I went back to every aisle I had gone down. asked the clerk at the line I was in. Questioned the produce kid..No No No Nobody turned it in.. I was really freaking now.. panic over comes me when I lose things..all the while my DH is calm as a cucumber....We Got home and while looking up the bank # to report it as lost...I see that the answering machine was blinking.. Surprise to me..... A nice young man's voice said he had found my card at the entrance to the grocery store on the ground just outside the door..I called him back immediately, He offered to take it to the bank & have them hold it for me, or bring it to my house, but I decided No, I would go meet him & get it..The guy was maybe 19yo and I appreciated him calling me & bringing it to me at the store where I dropped it.. I gave him $10 to pay for his trouble & gas he used to come meet me. Which he refused until I insisted. It is just a great feeling to know there are honest people living here in my town. I knew we liked living here...

I will for sure sleep better tonight. I think what upsets me when I lose things is I try so hard Not to be careless.. I think I have too much on my mind.. Or maybe it is just those menopausal moments..

It's so nice to hear stories like this. They seem so few and far between.

That is wonderful! I dropped a $10 a the post office the other day, ran to the ATM to get money to tuck into a card and came back. Someone saw it on the ground and I felt like they must all think I as lying when I said it was mine since I had just walked in, but the lady was very sweet and I was so thankful to have it back!

That is so wonderful that he returned it to you. I remember this time when I went out to eat with my mom at a resturant. We were sitting in our booth and a woman came up to our table and asked my mom what her name was. My mom told the woman her name and the woman said,"Here is your Wallet, I found it outside in the parking lot."
My mom had no idea that she had dropped it until the woman told her she had found it. Mom was so glad she returned it, Mom's wallet had everything in it, money, ID, debit cards...
That woman so sweet and honest to return it to my mom.

That's wonderful!
In fact, my mom and I just talked about this very thing last night. Around Mother's day last year, she lost her wristlet wallet at the garden center, picking out a rose for my grandmother's grave--well, she thought she lost it. She'd actually been the victim of a theft ring, as she was notified yesterday by her bank. Apparently, someone JUST now attempted to use one of her cancelled credit cards. Interesting! The bank says these crooks "resell" them to other losers... What dorks! She was sooo disheartened to think that noone would come forward and return her wallet. She couldn't figure out WHY noone would be kind--she was more saddened by the fact that there was an old photo of my grandmother as a 20 soemthing inside the wallet that she was going to frame for Mother's Day for me. She cried and cried. She was reminded of that last night after the letter. She said, "well, I guess those crooks wouldn't care about Gram's photo..."...

I'm so grateful that there ARE good people out there...you never hear NEARLY enough about them!

My daughter lost her cell phone on her way to the bus stop recently and discovered it after she got to work. That evening a lady called us (our number was stored in her phone) and said her son found it near the bus stop and they wanted to return it. How nice was that!!!! We called our daughter and she immediately went to their house to get it. She rewarded the young man with $10 which he didn't want to take but she insisted. It's refreshing to realize there still are nice honest people out there!

I'm glad to hear so many of you have had good experiences. I've returned cell phones and lost cash to their owners, but so far nobody has ever returned anything to me when I've lost it (of course, it's entirely possible that I lose things so well nobody finds them - like off the roof of the car at an expressway gas station).

Somebody did return me to my parents once when I got lost as a kid, so I'm grateful for that. With all the horror stories you hear about abduction, that could have ended very badly.

My mom just told me this morning, that she had lost her credit card on Monday. She thinks she dropped it in the post office parking lot where she works. She cancelled the card and will be calling today to see if there were any additional charges. I love reading these honest people stories.

It just warms my heart when I hear a story like yours. It really makes you feel good to know there are people out there like the young man who found your card. Excellent.

It is wonderful to hear these stories. I lost my credit card at a gas station and did not even know it when I got a call from them telling me someone found it outside and brought it in to the store. How about that?

brings a smile to my face.. to know there are in fact honest people in our world today with so many layoffs and God knows what other stresses people have. I am sure the temptation is there for some to make a wrong choice.
