Check out my blog today for a homemade knit "sponge" pattern. I have made a few of these and prefer them to real sponges! They go through the washer and dryer easily and wring out nicely and are very absorbent. I use them for cleaning everything...one in the bathroom,a couple in the kitchen, etc. A great secret pal gift too. If you have any questions, ask away.

Thanks Diana...you know the old saying about necessity being the mother of invention...couldn't find what I was after in a store so I made my own. Love it when it all comes together and works.

I have LOTS of scraps of cotton yarn from the children's hats I make! Can't wait to try it - thanks Jami!

Perfect! That's just the type of stash I was dealing with too. I hope you like them. I even got to thinking if you wanted to make one side a scrubber, as you crochet the finishing edge catch the holes of a rectangular piece of a leftover onion bag to fit (plastic) for a scrubbing side for pots and pans. I prefer mine all-purpose but might make a couple of those later when I'm buying store bought onions again.

You drying out over there Sherri? Eburg is doing much better this week.
