Yesterday while cleaning my book shelf in the bed room I came across 2 old MJF mags I had apparently forgotten I had. So last night I start going through one. And lo and behold, there is Miss Wilma sittin' on her front porch with an embroidery project! Wow! (That's as far as I gotten so far.)

I do not really remember reading this one, it was so long ago. I think maybe 2004. But back then it was just another magazine. Now looking at the same pages I saw 4 1/2 years ago is so different. I actually "know" these people! I "talk" to them nearly every day. So now it's more like getting a letter from friends. I look and see people's names I recognize and it makes it so much more that a magazine now. How neat to know that I know the people who have written articles or just wrote in to say hello to Maryjane. I love being a part of this.

It really makes me want to meet all of you now. CAn't wait for Miss Wilma's spring gathering! It's good she's so close.

Happy reading, ya'll! Kris

How wonderful, isn't it? I remember driving home last January, with my husband, to our Northern Kentucky home after sitting a few hours with Wilma at her kitchen table, table-talking and eating fried apple pies and warm potato soup...I said to him, "isn't it cool? I mean, it's sooo cool that 4 years ago, I bought the Mary Janes Farm Life Book and read about this lady in Kentucky who made dolls, and pillows and all these wonderful handcrafts, and we just sat at her table!!" And the best part? She's as humble as the day is long, and just as dear, and kind and generous--one of the truest hearts I know.

We are lucky, here, in the Bluegrass state--she's a treasure for sure

Rene', I would so love to go. Isn't there something in July? That's when we have our reunion in Col. Springs this year. It looks like so much fun. So I think next year, if it's still going on, I am going to plan a trip and go out there. I have a cousin that lives in Id. above the farm. I'd go visit her, too.

No time like the present to start planning such a big trip, right?

Sounds good to me, Miss Wilma! I'd love to sit on that big front porch in one of your rockers awhile! Fall sounds like a good time. I'll be ready for a break from farmer's markets by then. That takes so much out of me. But I do not think I am going to complain about the heat this summer at all. I am ready to sweat!

I am so glad you're not so far away, too. That may be a bad thing, though. I might not want to leave!

If you could walk in my house right now you would back out fast, I have fabric from one end to the other, Have been staining and cutting, Found an easy way to stain, I boiled a big canner ful of walnut hulls strained it up dumped it in to the old wringer washer and now I have yards and yards ready. I had been using instant coffee but this doesnt cost anything and is much better for dying. You would not believe what my hands look like. I got a huge order for dolls yesterday so looks like I am going to be busy as a bee for a few days

Is that the electric fly swatter? My friend got one for her husband. He loves that thing. He'd sit there all day with it on.

Hey Miss Wilme, I may just get a wild hair sometime soon and be at your place sooner. All this talk makes me want to come on over! Ya never know.
