I would like to start a new adventure, selling books on a blog, I had hoped to open a store but those around me are just to expensive so I have boxes of books that I have been saving, I was thinking about posting about 5 a day and mailing them always media mail and taking paypal.
Would you buy books on a blog if they interested you? Would you prefer real pics of the books or would it be okay to post the Amazon pic. How much detail would please you?

Are these used books? I would say if I an get a good deal on a book...I don't really care that much where it comes from. For me it is about economics. I don't mind a used book is it is not torn up. There's my two cents worth.

I agree with Pamela, if I'm buying on-line anyway, this would be as good a way as any, especially if you have Pay-Pal. How are you going to get people to your blog to alert them of new listings? How would I know for instance that you have posted new books? From MJ forum? As a blog follower? I'm in marketing as a profession and I always tell my clients, you can have the best product out there but if people don't know about it they can't buy it. Best of luck!

I'll post when I have new books, All of my books have only been read once, by me and are in almost brand new shape..I'm posting the books for 1/2 of the listed price. I have Romance to decorating and tons of sewing and then my MIL gave me 15 boxes of old Health/healing books that I have to open up and go thru.

Hey, Heather. You might get more exposure for your books if you opened a selling account at Alibris or Abebooks (or even Amazon). I think at least some of these sites have a different program for small time individuals that is less onerous and has less fees than if you are a real bookstore looking for online presence. Just a suggestion...I haven't tried it myself, but I keep intending to when I get around to it (and when I have a better computer!) |

Hello Heather,
I have bought books from people who sell them on blogs. I prefer buying books from people who sell on blogs than through places like ebay.
I would be interested if you had books that I am looking for. I like books by Miriam E. Mason, Tasha Tudor, Marguerite de Angeli, and Carol Ryrie Brink, those are all Children's Authors.
I think it a blog bookstore is a great idea! Belle

Hi Heather...I am only familiar with buying books off of ebay or amazon, but I think you may have a great thing going for you. The FarmGirl Chapter my mother in law Started in OK had a monthly meeting and Book Swap, it was like a month long library check out, but quite honestly I would have loved to have bought some of the books that came through, used or not. maybe your chapter could do a monthly or quarterly "book fair" where you make a list of titles and selling prices and then "shop" each others books. It wouldn't be selling at a large scale, but if you have a bunch, it could possibly be another way to free up bookshelf space and make a little $. I think the blog thing would do well, though... just a little thought....Kelley |
