For awhile, I have really wanted to decorate in a beach cottage look, really simple with greys, blues, some pink with white furniture and window treatments and not a lot of stuff. I got some great ideas online and watched some things on HGTV and what not. So I decided I am going to go for it for 2009. I have a small budget of $500 for the year. This is not all in one chunk, but as I find things and can fit them into the budget, I will work on it. This also means A LOT of stuff is going to go. I am over the country look right now. Been in the mode for 10 + years. I am so excited. I am going to have another yardsale and sell what I can and use that money to fund the new look. Just thought I would share.

Go for it Heather! I have found my "style" evolving over the years also. I'm still in the country look to a point, but I'm really finding the cluttery country look claustaphobic any more. Lean, and pared down is what appeals to me now, almost primitive.

you "might" could find some things to get the look you want on etsy..do a search under "vintage" and type in nautical/sailor,seaside/seashore/mermaid and things like that..you may be able to find what you are looking for there...and be able to stay in budget. I like to shop there for vintage retro.
just a thought...

I have set aside $75 of my budget for online shopping. Thanks for the ideas.

Sounds wonderful! Best of luck with this.

Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.
