Does anyone have a dress form? I know I know I am in PA and shipping might be crazy. Just worth a try right? I am on the look out for a dress form. I'd love an old one if possible. I wanna start making my own creations:)

If you are only making stuff for yourself, you can do a duct-tape double - directions are available on the 'net.

I really like this idea. I wonder how hard it would be to do by yourself?

It is impossible to do by yourself - someone has to wrap you like a mummy. I know, I have a DTD - her name is Dolly. My sister wrapped me up. The only real challenge is for the person who is doing the wrapping - duct tape is stubborn stuff. If you choose to do this, be sure to use the stuff from the craft store, not the hardware store. The craft stuff will bend and curve better. Our Dolly is turquoise because of this. She looks like a superhero. I'll have to see if I can find my photos and post them...

Thank you, I have seen this and thought totally cool, but then comes the "decorating" side of me that if I'm not using it I will decorate it like the romantic style decorators do and make it a part of your design and dress it up and down and hang things on it. Make any sense? Sorry still battling a cold and I feel like I ramble since my thoughts are less than organized. :-p Ideally I want an antiqueyish one or used.

I have been on the lookout for a dress form too, lol.
AND I know I will find one cheaply, someday.

I have seen the pretties 40's wedding dress, lol.
NOPE I am not getting married, but the romantic in me already sees it ON the dressform in my bedroom.
The dress was gorgeous! All white, the bodice was with all sequins and pearls. The attached skirt was made of tule (??), also with sequins. Not filled just here and there.
Added was a white jacket, with all sequins, long gloves and a little hat if I am correct. All for a ridiculously low price!!

SO i might go back tomorrow, just to buy it and wait till I find a dress form, lol.
It is at the antique farm close by, so.........;)

Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

Again new creations added, too cute lol. Come and check it out!!

How about making one and really seeing that there is nothing on top? LOL I am so used to seeing the curvy type dressforms and thinking "That's not me" but at least had something to hang your garmet on while taking it in or letting it out. I don't know if I want to see a dressform of myself! LOL I am curious though and might give it a try.
