I was watching HGTV Top 10 Christmas Towns and during the segment of a town in the Ozarks they had made carved ornaments out of wooden thread spools. I found this interesting site http://www.fabrics.net/joan603.asp Now where did I put all those spools I have been saving. JoAnn

Those are cool looking. I had been saving a bag of wooden spools for years and finally decided to send them to the thrift. Oops--I did it again. MB

That is so funny because I was just telling my dad that he should start doing this! I have old wooden spools and he has been getting into woodcarving so I just told him about this lol!

Those are so cool. I have wooden spools, I might have to try that!
BTW Karen, I got the rug instructions, thanks, I'm sending a card your way in the mail tomarrow, that is, if the mail is running. We are supposed to get 8 more inches of snow tonight.

This is only an idea. I make homemade checker boards. Why not make the checkers out of wooden thread spools? I might just try this the next time I make my checker boards.
