Oh yes, Christmas is all about gifts. Gifts that surprise, gifts that delight, gifts that nurture the souls of us the giver and those receiving. Perfect gifts, authentic gifts, recycled gifts and gifts we push into those cute christmas stockings we hang up each year.

And just when we are absolutely sick of Christmas the after-Christmas sales start when I can purchase next years gift wrap, cards and holiday decorations at 1/2 price. If I don't have something for everyone on my list by now there is always Ebay and my sewing machine is still set up....or I can stoop to buying a gift card... I wonder is it too late to request a gym membership or if I should have a hot buttered rum and just listen to some Christmas music? Let me think about it for awhile....I still have 15 days til Christmas.

OH girls why did you have to remind me there's only 15 days left till Christmas?!
I made a good dent in my candy making yesterday but still not enough of one.
And I still have to get the stockings done I'm making for the boys and girls in my kids' troops.

I might get to breathe a lil when it's all done.

15 days til Christmas! That started to make me feel really sad. I haven't been in a place where I can decorate and revel in the season. I've been sitting in a yurt-makeshift-kitchen cooking most of this month. I'm not decorating, or wrapping, or making much this year. I don't have my "sea legs" yet in my own yurt to set up crafting.

Then I started to think that maybe instead of feeling sorry for myself (a little) I should remember I've been giving my every day to other people as Jesus gave his very life to others. I'm trying to take comfort in that, and I do, but I still miss the jingles and twinkles and I will also be happy to go to Tucson to send Christmas with my children.

Please enjoy everything about this season. It's such a gift to be alive and be able to love and serve each other. Peace.

Allison, I find you a very giving person. You might reach inside your heart pocket and feel the warmth of your making other people happy. all the christmas glitter does not make one revel in the season..Its what's inside i think...Merry christmas farmgirl..

Cheryl, you're so kind. I was just feeling whiny. Buddhists just don't do Christmas and it's my very favorite time!

But I have been thinking of all the simple and loving Christmases through history in all the faraway places of the world and how fortunate I am. And I did put up a string of Christmas lights in the kitchen yurt, so I'm a lost cause no matter where I am when it comes to Christmas.

Thanks for you all.

yes Victoria.. I agree.. and my son feels the same way...he is quite understanding of all religions too.. He married a Jewish girl. They respect both beliefs as well as my Christian one. I am truely blessed.

We are not shopping this year. Hubby and I are both out of work so only our daughter and the two grandsons will get gifts. I'm making lots of homemade goodies and will be giving plates to all our friends. It has been wonderful not to have to worry about what to buy for this one and that one. Especially not to have to stress about the money. We're going to enjoy our holiday by just being together as a family and celebrating Jesus birthday.

Well, your support and my teeny tiny moment of blues have opened my heart another inch or so. Now, especially when the crew fill the yurt for dinner and everyone's happy and warm and laughing and eating, I just think: this is the best Christmas ever - and it IS. It's warm, open hearts and love and, for me at least, that's my favorite of Christ's teachings - Love one another as I have loved you.

Thanks for you guys listening and being there.

Thank you all for these posts. I needed to see this. I get kind of crazy a little closer to Christmas, thinking i haven't gotten everyone enuf "stuff". And it's not all that important. And esp. when I read all this, it just confirms it for me now.

So thanks, ya'll , for shining the light for me. I think ones time is so much more precious now than it has ever been and that's what we need to give the most.

Wishing you all the peace that this season brings. From my home to yours, where ever that may be right now.

Kris
