farmgirls and other farm-folk, MaryJane and Meg came to Spokane today for a book signing at Auntie's bookstore. I could not wait to go and see them again and buy a couple of books as gifts. I'm still trying to put my finger on what it is exactly about Maryjane and Meg that inspires and takes one's breath away. Some of you may recall the pilgrimage I took to MaryJane's farm earlier this summer before farm fair...Suffice it to say that their genuine, fun-loving, joyful attitudes are completely uplifting. I was able to spend a little more time with Meg, who is an extraordinarily positive force. There are so many beautiful young women out there stuck; too caught up in society's dictation of how young woman are supposed to look and behave, I suppose. Its a tragic trap and it seems to me that Meg offers an awful lot of hope. It is so good to connect with the people who have made this all possible and certainly brilliant to connect with all of you..the creative energy that keeps us all focused on elevating the good to a much higher place. I'm sending out the Maryjane/Meg vibe I rode the entire day today to each of you!! enjoy..blessings, Julia Hayes

That's it for me. Real women living meaningful lives. I wish I could get to the farm to meet them too.

Oh no! I can't believe I missed that! I was out and about too, I could have stopped by and I didn't even know she was going to be there...

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

So glad you had such a great day Julia. I hope someday to meet our Queen Bee as well. To be an encourager in others lives is something I hope to be better at myself. Inspiration is definetly a strong force.

hey there jenny!! I sure hope you make it to farm fair next year. I suspect that every year that fair will get more and more enchanting. I am hoping to participate as a vendor again. I learned a lot from that experience and know the things I ought to do differently. we'll see..it took a lot out of my husband since out kids are still really little and being gone for an entire day was almost too much for everyone. i had such a great time though and would love to participate again. i'm off to head to the post office today..mailing packages. my kids discovered the room where I've been packing things up..needless to say there are packing peanuts everywhere!! and I mean everywhere.. I'm sure I'll be finding them for months..still great fun often means great messes!! hee hee hee!! blessings, ~j

What a coincidence, Julia. Meggie and I drove home saying the same thing about you--how inspiring you are (escorting a blind and hearing impaired woman to Europe as her eyes and ears) and how uplifting, and how joyous you made us feel! How lit up you are and so gorgeous in your painted lips and charm bracelets and shawls and homemade clothes, FULL of enthusiasm for life!!! We LOVE the image of you plowing snow in your overalls (on your new tractor!) as guests arrive but ready to entertain with a Christmas apron beneath your “farm-alls” and “Jane Deere” hat. Did you get your hat yet? The hat was Meggie’s idea. She came promptly home and worked one up for you.

We meet the most amazing farmgirls on our book tours. Last weekend we also met forum member OneQuiltyChick from Fairfield (home of The Farm Chicks show www.thefarmchicks). Kelly came bearing her quilty talents--a pin cushion. Girls, she isn’t one minute taller than five feet I swear and ever so petite but drives a Harley!!!! Adorable. And the elementary school teacher who introduced us to children’s book author Jan Brett, www.janbrett.com. On and on and on--a woman roofer who hunts with muzzleloading rifle!

Oh, the talents!!! Every farmgirl we meet has some creative endeavor she’s just passionate about!!!! Yesterday, I received a darling doll (begging for a photo op) from our Julia in Reedsport. So dear. Thank you!

Here are a few pics. Julie Bell, Meggie and I are off again to meet more fabulous farmgirls. Eighty women!!!! have signed up for one of our cooking classes (two sessions/40 each). What a blast we’re going to have!

MaryJane- I cannot begin to tell you what a difference you have made in my life in just the past few monthes. I picked up your book and it began. I realized what I wanted to do with my life. I have always been in love with the farm life. Then as I had more children and the need for them to be close to their playmates, I left the farm for the heart of town (population 3500) Everyone always laughs at me and says I'm a Martha Stewart wannabe. I beg to differ, I want to be a farmgirl! So as you can see by my farm pics, I have realized this dream. And to have my whole family agree that there's no place like home if it's on a farm! I'm just at the beginning stage of having a working farm but with all of the wonderful farm gals I've met here, I know I will have the resources and encouragement to do all I dream to. And what's also so great is the talent of these farmgirls, just amazing.

THANK YOU!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Good morning MaryJane, so glad you like the doll. She just turned into you as she was being made. So what better place to live than your house. She started out being a "Madonna" but the braid said MaryJane, not Mary. So I guess that makes her an extra special doll. Enjoy! Merry Christmas. Julia V.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I'm speechles! I've been formulating the story ALL day. 'Thank you' seems such a sickly attempt to describe the emotion that was conjured when I received my Jane Deere hat! I amazed, honored, deeply, profoundly touched. I will treasure it, truly and wear it proudly. This act of pure kindness has resonated with my philosophical side and your kind words have sent me over the moon! I've left a message on your 'Maryjane's Farm' voicemail..my deepest more heartfelt thanks and cyber hugs to you!!!here's a big "excited fingers" for you!!! ***////~~~~~%%%Julia
