I just got a new electric pressure cooker. Supposed to be much safer and less scary than the old ones. There were a few recipes that came with it, but not much. I was wondering if any of you cook in one of these (or one of the old types) and have recipes to share?
Thanks for any help,
Sharon

Me too! I just got one also. The only thing I have made in it is chicken and noodles and pork ribs. But they were very tasty!

Oh, I want one! How have I missed out on a new kitchen appliance? I'll have to look in my catalogs. I bet Amazon.com has them. I'll go see.

I just saw one of the electric pressure cookers in a store and wanted it but did not buy it! I have an Italian stainless steel pressure cooker that I've used for more than 20 years and I cook mostly vegetables and brown rice in it. Its a great way to quickly cook potatoes for mashing. The electric ones look wonderful; let us know how it works for you!

I have never seen an electric one! I never had got in the habit of pressure cooking (pressure canning...yes!) but it sure makes sense. I can't wait to hear how you like the new toy Sharon!

Well, so far I've made two dishes in the pressure cooker and both were delicious!!! Pulled pork in one hour...very tender and tasty. The next was chicken cacciatori...cooked in (are you sittiing down?) EIGHT minutes!!! Very good. There was barely time to get the noodles cooked! I got many more recipes off the internet. I think I'm going to love this electric pressure cooker. No frightening noises, easy to clean! No, lisa, I don't believe you can use it to can. I should check with the company though, just to be sure.

I brought the cook esstenials from Qvc. a year ago I think'
I have made chicke and dumplings
Pork roast.
Pot roast.
Things like that
My has a safety feature.
You can't open it until the steam is gone in the pressure
You have to let it out if you need to get into it
I have a timer on mine too that comes in handy. pinkroses

Okay, I'm sold. maybe the electric pressure cooker is what I;m getting for Christmas. I can just about resist anything but a kitchen appliance. I think it was the eight minute chicken caccitore that sent me over the edge!

My mom used to have one eons ago. It was a big one, because my brothers were big eaters, lol.
But she threw it out when it was just the 2 of us, she never used it anymore. But I remember the dinners she made in it were very good and quick!!

I bought one of the newer ones with the safety features. I didn't know there was an electric one. Mine was the deal of the day on Amazon. I didn't know when I bought it that it was for cooking not canning. I used it a few times but I need to get it out and try it again. I Loved how quickly it cooked. Everything was soooo tender and flavorful. Making me hungry. I am going to go defrost something to pressure cook for supper. Yum! Thanks for the inspiration:)

Merry Christmas

Sorry it's been so long to get back... Erin, I just did a google search and found a few different sites with recipes. Mine came from QVC. I have a friend who has had hers for over a year (alos QVC)and loves them (she has two of the 8qt; large family). I'd be happy to get recipes from any of you who use a pressure cooker! I'll also happily share the ones I've found.

I am curious what the inside (the part that touches the food) made out of? They sound interesting.......nothing makes brown rice like a pressure cooker....yum.

Mine has a non-stick finish. Last night we had pot roast that made it's on gravy. Ohmy!!! The only problem was the roast was too small!!!
Easy clean-up!

Here I thought I was the only one that used a pressure cooker. Mine is a Model 40 and belonged to my Grandmother. I think I have had it for at least 20 years or so. It is not electric. For some reason, the electric ones scare me. Mine goes on the range and I watch it like a hawk. I don't know what I would do if it ever blew! Just made homemade veggie soup a couple of days ago. Yumm

I just got mine from 1qvc last week. There is a great double recipe for a stewed whole chicken with potatoes and carrots, and when you take it out of the pot, you add a bag of frozen mixed veg and pressure cook for 3 mins. I put the soup in the fridge and the next night added some of the left over chicken and noodles and had about 2 qts of soup. Some for dinner, some for the freezer. Yum

Wanna a good laugh? Ten years ago, I bought one off of QVC. It's electronic, pretty hefty, and pretty fancy. Before I used it, my mom scared me to death with tales of old ones blowing up, and I remember the kitchen scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's. So, I put it away and never used it. Until about a month ago. Pulled it out and made rice because I was in a hurry. Now I love it! It's gotten used about two or three times a week since I pulled it out. To think, it sat ten years in a box, brand new!

I got on paperback swap, ended up passing it to a good friend as I can't afford an electric one just yet.
