I've been resisting buying it and using it, as I grew up using beeswax, but I haven't been able to find beeswax for this purpose sold in NYC.
So I finally broke down and bought some, in late October.
For the first time today, I broke down and used it. Boy, I love it! No knotting of my thread at ALL! No tangles at all!
I will buy beeswax again if I ever find it for this purpose. But, for now Thread Heaven is certainly making my embroidery easy as heavenly pie!

May I ask why you use the beeswax or dryer sheets for your embroidery thread? Also when doing an embroidery, say for a dishtowel, do you use all the strands, or separate them? I think my embroidery thread is 6 strands, and it seems thick, but I know some of the dishtowels I've gotten in the thrifts seem to use the thick strands. Thanks for your help! Judy

Wanted to ask the same! Doesn't it make the tread sticky and dirty??

Yes, I love it!
No it doesn't make it sticky or dirty.
What it does is make it smooth, where it does not knot, or get tangled. (which happens sometimes a lot).
The amount of strands used, varies from person to person and project to project. I personally would never use all six strands. I have used that many once in a while for french knots as my patterns dots were so large it took that thick to cover up the stamp. But, usually I use 2 strands of DMC, sometimes 3 (depending on how thick the stamp on the towel is). And I never use more then doubling my number 12 sulky blendable embroidery threads. Sometimes singling it does fine, as one strand is supposed to be equal to 2 strands of DMC, but I think it's more like 1 1/2 strands, not a full 2 strands thick.

I'll post some pictures maybe on Thursday. (right now nothing has been washed to take pictures of, and I can't do laundry till Weds. (that's when I can go to the laundry mat). I am usually there all day, since I only get to do laundry once a week. So I'll probably get to take pictures on Thursday. Nothing is dirty really, but every thing I have hasn't been laundered since I finished it, and still has the hoop rings on it. So I would rather launder them, iron and then take pictures.

Your embroidery is just terrific! What a treat to see. I got some Thread Heaven a few years ago, it is great stuff. I usually use beeswax on my thread when I am quilting, but I may switch over to Thread Heaven for all my hand sewing. it is a tremendous help
I like to embroider with two or three strands of embroidery floss, but at the moment I am getting addicted to size 8 perle cotton thread, which doesn't need to be seperated. It somes in lots of lovely colors and is so easy to work with...

Well, I do like beeswax when I can find it! I don't know if I would switch to thread heaven over beeswax, when I can find the wax I use it.
I wanted to add, the beeswax/thread heaven also strengthens your thread, so it doesn't break or fray also. So between the strengthening, and keeping it from knotting or tangling you can use more then the 18 inch long pieces of thread that is usually recommended. Which I like to do, cause I hate tieing in! lol So the less I have to tie in a new piece of thread the happier I am. But, with out thread heaven or beeswax, I've even had 18 inch long thread fray and break before I was done with the piece.
I also like using Sulky cause I don't have to separate it. And I love the varigated colors it comes in. However, I must admit I go back to DMC floss quite often cause of the variety of colors, and cheapness. But, yard for yard Sulky is cheaper. But, at the same time I have to buy a spool with over 300 yards, and it comes up to around 3 to 5 dollars a spool (depending on the sales/coupons I can get), and you can only get it at quilt or sew and vac stores, no chain stores etc. (the sulky I use that is, I know there is sulky sold every where, but not the blendables). Where the DMC I can literally get from any where from ACE hardware to Joann's, to Michael's, and on and on, and only pay at most 50 cents for a color, tops! Oh how I miss my childhood days of 8 for a dollar sales! lol I did get 10 for a dollar from walmart though when they fazed them out! lol haha

Thread Heaven is great stuff, when you can find it. You can use it for machine sewing, too, just rub it over the spool of thread. I separate all my strands of embroidery, put two or three back together (however I'm using for the project) and run them over the Thread Heaven. I used to use beeswax but like Thread Heaven better for embroidery because it isn't sticky.
I like DMC floss but have also been using perle at time because I like the way it looks; also because it doesn't need separating. I did have a big bag of embroidery thread that still had the five cent price tags but gave it away. When Walmart was getting rid of their DMC for five cents each I bought over $20 worth and stocked up for my next several lifetimes.

Yes Ruth get some. I got it at AC Moore, they have 50percent off coupons on the email a lot!
I have gotten a couple of loose knots with the thread heaven, but it's very very lose! And easy to pull right out!
I hate it when I get such a tiny tight knot I can't get out, and end up having to just cut the thread! That has NOT happened once with the thread heaven! Not once! It's like it's so smooth and slick it doesn't knot completely!
Judith I went crazy with the walmart sale too! I know I bought over 20 dollars worth, TWICE! Two different walmarts! lol

I have never heard of using beeswax for embroidery floss.
I use 2 strands of DMC floss most of the time. I love embroidering.
