I have been experimenting with needlefelting and have created some fun little 3D felted critters. Over the next few weeks (leading up to Xmas,) I'm going to make a bunch of these mini felt critters (mostly kittens and puppies, but some others too) to sell - with ALL of the proceeds to go to the Young Animal Hospital's Abandoned and Hurt Pets Fund (Hillsboro, TX). This money will go toward their food and medicines, and if proceeds allow, toward their complicated surgeries.

This past couple of months has seen 15 animals brought in for MAJOR orthopedic surgery and then abandoned because the owners can't (or won't) pay for the expensive surgeries. The vet, Dr. Young, has depleted his special orphans fund in providing for the care and recovery of these animals. Most of the animals are VERY LARGE (over 80 lb.) dogs with bashed in faces, broken hips, etc....

If you are interested in purchasing one of these miniature animal sculptures, I will be posting them on my homestead journal, on Ebay and/or at my ETSY store. (Don't worry - I'll pass on the info as I finish each one and get it up for sale.)

If you wish to request a certain type of animal, or a specific breed of dog or cat (or a likeness of one of your own pets), post here (or email me at erinosmith@hotmail.com) with your email info and I'll get back to you. I can and will be making French Angora bunnies, Lionhead bunnies and Angora Goats, using wool from my own animals. I am also open to doing horses, other goats, and other farm critters too.

All of the animals can be made with an optional ribbon for hanging them on the Christmas tree.

And remember, all proceeds go to the hurt animals at the Vet's office.

Costs will depend on the complexity of the project. But probably about $15. That includes a ribbon attached, if you want to make it an ornament, and includes a nice decorated box of some kind. I'm working on a design for them. Maybe a doghouse-shaped one for the puppies.

I'm pretty excited. I have orders for another koala, two King Charles Cavalier spaniels, an earthworm (not sure how I'll do that one) and an angora goat. They don't take too long to do (compared to some projects I have done) and I can work on them in the evenings.

In terms of size, these animals are about three or four inches tall, depending on the animal.
