Hi, I used to drive my horse to a buggy but lost the harness and buggy to my former husband. I did keep my horse! I'd love to find replacements but I'm short on cash so buying new is pretty tough. Do you have a harness that would fit a medium size (15 hands, 900 lb.) saddle horse that you are no longer using? I have all sorts of stuff you may be able to use, from a full set of "Old Country Roses" china to a restorable side saddle( I have too many of those!)And loads of books on gardening, needlework, cookbooks etc. I maybe even have a little bit of good old fashioned green money stashed in the sugar bowl. If you need the space in your tack room and figure that usable but unused harness needs a new home I hope to hear from you! Marilyn

Oh my gosh Marilyn! You have several side saddles! What a treasure! Sorry, I don't have any horse tack. I hope someone here has what you are looking for, and Welcome to the Forum! It looks like we don't live too far from each other!

Welcome to the forum, Marilyn. I have lots of horse tack but no harness and I would love to find one that would fit my 38inch high pony. MB

Marilyn,

I might be able to find you a set pretty reasonable. I have drafts and do hitches up to 6 with them and my mules...so none of mine will fit you...but I do know a lot of folks who drive anything from minis to mules to light horses to drafts. I'll start poking around.

Not likely they'll barter - but if you're interested, I'll buy one of the side saddles for a fair price and you can put that $$ in the sugar bowl!

I'll keep you posted!

Hi Marilyn, I just wanted to welcome you. You will love it on this site and all the different forums. I'm sorry to hear you lost the harness and buggy, but glad you got to keep the horse. I don't have what you are looking for, that I know of. If you could give me more specifics like: collar, hames, reins, etc. then I could check what I've got.

Also, does anyone have plans for building a buckboard type of wagon?
If not, do you know where I might find them?

Marilyn, I'll check when I hear back from you. My husband and I are looking to go to MT for a cattle auction I think the first week of December. If I have anything you could use, I could bring it part way to you.

Thanks Sheri, I would sell a sidesaddle I have that is on a sound tree, fits a lady around 5'2" or less and slender build. Horse must be narrow backed as this is a vintage saddle. It needs new rigging, stuffing and has damaged area on the off side flap. I intended to have it rebuilt as victorian style in mohair tapestry & velvet but I'm not sure when that might happen. I would sell it for what I paid, $150. I can send photos if it sounds interesting. Thanks, Marilyn

Yes, as I mentioned my horse is around 15 hands & 900lbs. Collars are gorgeous and expensive but are difficult to fit correctly without being able to try them on the horse before purchase. A breast collar harness is much easier to fit. Thanks, Marilyn

I need the complete set for a single horse around 15 hands & 900 lbs. Breast strap style is much easier to determine a correct fit
than collars, which are expensive, beautiful and rather hard to come by in saddle horse sizing. They are MUCH smaller than most people imagine. Thanks, Marilyn
