Nora slipped while I was holding her hands and afterwards she was favoring her left arm and crying when I moved it to see if she was hurt. So we took her to the emergency room. She had "Nursemaid's elbow" which is where a tiny bone in their elbow gets dislocated from a tugging motion on their arms. I guess this is really common up until about age 5. The doctor just twisted and rotated her arm a bit (while she cried) and it popped right back. I felt so bad for her, but it was obvious that she felt much better right away.

Now she is sleeping and hopefully when she wakes up she will go back to playing like nothing ever happened. Poor kiddo.

I'm glad she's okay! I spent all of last weekend in various emergency rooms, so I know well the stress that goes along with it, especially when it's one of your kids. Hubby had to go twice because he hurt his back and smashed his finger and had to have it drilled open. Tate had a seizure early in the morning on Sunday before I got up, so I didn't know how long it lasted or anything, so we took him just to be sure. Everything was fine, though so no worries. Hopefully Nora forgets all about her elbow hurting and it doesn't happen again.

I am glad she's ok. Poor thing. That happened to one of my grandkids not long ago. I kept noticing she wouldn't raise her arm. Same thing just happened to a friends little girl, too. So it's very common.

I think it hurts us more to see them hurting and they can't really say why it hurts. Thank goodness for doctors.

Isn't it amazing how these little cupcakes pop right back as if nothing happened. My kids used to get sick always at night they would run high fevers, I tried everything a mother knows how to do, then finally after taking them to Doctor and sometimes a shot of antibioltics they were fine in 24 hours. I never ran to the hospital or Dr for every little thing but when I felt it was serious of course off I went.

It really is amazing. She was raising her arm and playing games within about 3 minutes. It helped that she was tired so she rubbed her eyes as a reflex action and I think that helped her realize that her arm wasn't hurting any more.

Alee...glad to hear Nora is ok. This happened several times to my youngest sister when I was a teenager. The dr had the nerve to ask if it was my fault when we took her in. Later on we found it was very common in kids. My mom ended up learning how to pop it back in herself. It also happened with my oldest daughter a few times when she was about 3. Plopping herself on the ground while holding her hand would usually do it. Another way to get it back in is to place the arm in a sling. It will pop back in on its own. Very nerve wracking the first few times though. Hopefully you won't have to worry about that again.

Thanks Kelly! Yes, I really do hope we won't have to worry about it again. But, if that is the worst injury, I'll take it! There are lots of worse ones in the books.

Ah, poor kiddo and poor mommy too!!
Glad she is doing better again, and hope you feel better now too, Alee.
I bet that is the worst thing for a mommy (and daddy too) to see:your own child in pain.

Oh she is doing great. About 5 minutes after the doctor fixed her arm, you wouldn't even know she had been hurt. She was climbing and playing yesterday and today. I think it was scarier for Mommy and Daddy than for her!
