I thought maybe, a strip swap of 2 1/2 strips of 100% cotton fabric. You can get 16 strips from 1 yard. Please only quality fabric no Walmart or JoAnns, it not fair to the others, it will be sent back. I thought we would start in January and maybe do it every month. But you have to sign up every month, or the months you want. Its up to you to get keep up with the months, you want. Will take sign ups until 12/15. Mail to me by 01/10 and we mail back within 2 days of receiving all.
January- be christmas fabrics sent they will be on sale
February- be blue
March- be valentine they would be on sale.
April- St patricks wbos
May-Easter
June-floral
July-4th:Red, White and Blue
August-beach, water,
September-fall colors
October-Harvest or Thanksgiving
No exchanges november or christmas
This is a great way to bulid your stash.
You keep one strips for yourself and mail me the others I divide them and mail back. you would mail me a self-stamped envelope with the correct postage with your strips. The post office does not take metered when I am mailing back so it does have to be stamps.
we would need at least 15 to sign up and you can sign-up more than once if you want more but if you do say you sign up for 2 spots they can not be the same fabric. A different fabric for each spot, or I will be force to mail back to you.

Sign me up! I had the same idea yesterday when I was cleaning up and rearranging in my craft room and came across some strips I had leftover from 2 jelly rolls that I purchased to make dd's neon pink quilt (it's so bright you can see it from space).
Please put me down for all the months.

I think I'm confused here...... Do we have to sign up for all the months or can we pick and choose? For example, I would be interested in February, June, and September but I don't want any holiday fabric.

I think you have to sign up for the months you want... I wanted to be included in all of them, so I asked to be signed up for all. If you only want February, June and September, then you can request February, June and September.

JoAnns fabric has a whole wall of 100% collton quilting fabric for about $8.50 a yard....I can understand Walmart not being good quality but what's wrong with JoAnns? I must have lots to learn.

I agree - I've made several quilts with JoAnn's fabrics and never had an issue. It would also be a lot easier on my budget to pick up a yard of fabric on sale for less than $10/yard, which is what most quilt shop fabrics go fo here.

Again sorry,I don't want anyone to go to the trouble of making a quilt, table runner, and they wash it and few months down the road it start to be worn from dry rot. Especially if you pay to have it quilted then its another addedex[ensive down the drain. A Lady in my quilter group just brought in her quilt she done for her daughter in February for her birthday, and it was woren looking in eleven places from dry rot and she had paid over $100.00 to have it quilted, plus all thew work she had put in it. She was very upset. She had been warn by several in the group. I will be glad to back off and if you would like to run this swap you are more than welcome too.

While we're on the subject of fabric quality, I would like to know which brands are the best. I've also had trouble with fabric disintegrating and fading. These are quilts I've made and aren't old. I usually do buy at JoAnns, but I thought they have the same fabrics the quilt shops have. I would appreciate any help on this. I've learned that I would rather pay more and have my hard work last to pass down to my daughters. Thanks

I too would like more info, I really thought I was using quality fabrics (designers) whether bought at Joann's or a quilting store. Are they not the same material? I can understand that fabrics bought, at say, Walmart, would be seconds, as most of their products are(seconds-I can tell you stories!). Yes, I too would pay more for longer lasting products.
